Ive recently noticed that when adding a new tv series to my plex server when in the Home Screen or tv shows screen the series has a blank thumbnail , title is there but when you click into it their is no meta data. If I go into the option to ’ Match’ its has found the correct series. So I click on it and get a circle wheel for a second then still a blank image.
it only appears to be doing this on new series, if I add an episode to a previous series that works that is fine.
Any ideas?
Need to see DEBUG log files which capture this happening.
Also need to see the exact file names & structure used .
The logs will tell if a proper match. They will also tell if a retrieval problem for posters, etc.

When you post, please let me know if this is an “Automatic detection” problem where PMS isn’t finding them automatically but a normal “Scan Files” does .

Wrong log. That is the Plex web client log.
See the support document I linked for instructions on obtaining server logs.

Hopefully what I have attached tis correct now.
I turned on the debug feature then went into PMS, selected tv shows and ‘Chucky’ isn’t displaying any thumbnail or when you click into it metadata. I then right-clicked tv shows and selected scan library files, still no update. Then I went to tv shows, selected ‘Chucky’ unmatched it, then rematched it. Still nothing. I have a few series the same now.

Doesn’t look like you’re using the modern TV agent. You should change the library agent to ‘Plex TV Series’ (or use the Upgrade Matching option). Then try matching it again.

doesn’t appear to have made any difference. Still won’t update new episodes/series I put on.
If I go into the series and select fix match, I can select the correct program but nothing changes.
My films area works fine. I just added one and it grabbed everything.
After you switched to the new agent/scanner did you force refresh your library ? This is needed to complete the upgrade from the old agent to new.
I’d also add that once that is complete its worth running Clean Bundles and then Optimise Database from under the troubleshooting section of your servers settings as the upgrade is a large update on your db.
If after that if its still failing, I’d suggest stopping and restarting your plex server, reproduce the problem and then post a new set of fresh logs.
thank you, I did force refresh but no change. But this morning just looked in and a few series have updated. I have just manually gone into them and forced a match and it appears its working again. Thankyou

Two suggestions: (a) Use a season folder; and (b) add the TVDB or TMDB ID to the folder name. Doing so should eliminate the need for a Fix Match.
Instead of:

Try:
/tvshows
../Station 19 (2018) {tvdb-341852} <-- Use curly quotes arround ID. Can use TheMovieDB ID if desired.
..../Season 05 <-- "Season" in English; Two digits for season number
....../Station 19 (2018) - s05e01 - [all that other stuff].mkv
- OK to use periods, dashes, or spaces as separator character. The important part is sXXeYY.
- Plex ignores everything after sXXeYY, so adding episode name is optional.
If Plex does not pick up the changes, Plex Dance the series. Do all the steps, in order.
