No fallback to English?

What is official way to report this bug to Plex team? Is there a official e-mail for it? I think no one from Plex read this thread.
Paying Plex pass to support project, and development. Don’t use Plex pass features at all…

I now noticed that I have one single TV show in my library that still shows english episode descriptions. All other shows are still bugged.

When I compared the XML data of an episode of the working show with an episode of a not working show I noticed something. The working one uses “com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb://1234?lang=en” for the “guid”, “parentGuid” and “grandparentGuid” attibutes of the “Video” tag, while the not working one uses “com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb://1234?lang=de”. So for some reason I have one TV show in my library that explicitly requests english data from TheTVDB while all other shows request german data.

Both of those shows are in the same Plex library and the library is set to german (and has never been set to something else). I have no idea why they behave differently.

edit: Ok, seems like I manually fixed the match for that one show a long time ago and changed the language to english for the match search back then. So by changing the fix match search language you can change a whole show to have everything in english

But of course that still doesn’t fix the actual bug, since it should fall back to english even if the match is in some other language. Still not fixed in server version 1.20.3.3483.

I’m having the same problem too.
The same thing happens using themoviedb.

I know it’s not related to Plex but the same thing happens in Jellyfin, so I wonder if it is an problem with the APIs.

Just adding a ”happens to me too” to help to show that this is a widespread issue.

Still not fixed with server version 1.21.1.3830

And still no response from Plex team, albeit I believe implementing / fixing this would not be a big deal. After all, freeware media mgmt utils are doing this perfectly…

The way I’m doing this right now is pre-process everything via TinyMediaManager, which of course handles this fluently, and use XBMCInfoTVImporter agent in Plex instead of TVDB, to pull Kodi-compliant plot from the output of TMM into the database.
Of course, this is a pain - I need to double-process everything…

Guys at Plex, are you really so negligent about your international user base? There are 40+ comments above complaining about the same!

Even though Plex seems not interested in fixing this for now, there is hope. A Plex employee confirmed that they will make sure that the fallback to English will work in the new Plex TV show agent (that is in beta right now): New Plex Media Server TV show/series scanner and agent preview - #136 by Adriana

I can confirm this. I have Version 1.22.0.4145 beta with the beta agent and metadata is populated again

I’ve now also switched to the new TV Series agent and can confirm that it properly falls back to english too.
