Who would you recommend I contact for my thread? Its had no reply’s for the last 10days.

matches not being found , especially on Windows is 99.9% of the time due to
Bad naming – as in VERY bad naming
a. extra junk in the name which confuses it
b. Not named per TMDB / IMDB naming or TheTVDB /
Embedded metadata (title / name) fields which also are contradictory
Renaming after the fact doesn’t fix a bad match. Media must be moved to where not monitored, naming fixed
Can you provide exact naming as you have it?
sure the following are examples of the names I use.
ie
Robin.Hood.1973.1080p.BluRay.H264.AAC-RARBG.mp4
Moonrise.Kingdom.2012.1080p.BluRay.x265-RARBG.mp4
I tried the plex dance and nothing seems to work.
These entries previously worked but since i removed and re-added to my folder they are not pulling in meta data.
Thank you
Thank you.
I will apologize in advance…
Those are about as far from compliant names as one can possibly get.
(year)
.In the case of Robin Hood, it’s further compounded because there are three versions of the movie. (1973, 2010, 2018)
Plex must have a 65%, at minimum, preferably 80%, certainty that the match is correct to complete it’s automatic matching.
To demonstrate how important proper naming is, I invoked my utility to create sample files (I use them for testing)
[chuck@lizum ~.509]$ make-movie "Robin Hood (1973)"
Making "Robin Hood (1973)"
Done
[chuck@lizum ~.510]$ make-movie "Robin Hood (2018)"
Making "Robin Hood (2018)"
Done
[chuck@lizum ~.511]$ make-movie "Robin Hood (2010)"
Making "Robin Hood (2010)"
Done
[chuck@lizum ~.512]$
I recommend FileBot, TheRenamer, or any of the other renaming tools out there.
It may seem like a pain but with them, media curation is a snap plus, because those tools pre-validate the name by performing a lookup, Plex never misses when matching. Matches are quick and painless.
In the time it took me to open the browser and server, all found by Plex automatically.
If you’d like the naming rules (template) I use with FileBot, I’ll be more than happy to provide it.
With FileBot, you drag & drop the media files into,
it performs the lookup and proposes names,
when you click “Rename”, It renames as it moves them into the proper final structure / location.
Thank you for the recommendations.
I renamed the file and did the plex dance and it still coming up with no matches.
The file was renamed to: Robin Hood (1973).mp4
what should I try next?
Thank you
At this point, Please download the logs and attach them.
I need to see what Plex saw.
Thank you for all your helpPlex Media Server Logs_2020-04-28_16-57-15.zip (4.3 MB)
I can see why you get no matches.
These names aren’t at all compliant. Any matches you do have are, please pardon how this sounds but I am trying to help, are by the skin of your teeth.
You really need to take the few minutes, with a tool (like FileBot) and curate these names properly.

To show you how quickly, easily, and perfectly, FileBot does it, I’ve edited my naming path. Because this is Linux and on my NAS, there is /nas
prefix. On Windows, the names will be correct
How this is done:
D:\Media\Aaron Movies
)For each block of files,
My renaming rules (for Linux)
/nas/movies/{n} ({y}){n} ({y})
For you on windows:
D:\Media\Aaron Movies\{n} ({y})\{n} ({y})
that’s it.
Try it with a one or two (to make sure it’s what you want) before doing more at a time.
This will save you countless hours of frustration.
PMS will also match MUCH faster and MORE accurately.
FileBot is about $6 a year. you can also buy lifetime for about $50 (which includes updates)
Here’re the Plex naming rules.
Chuck,
Thank you for all your support. I did the plex dance and renamed Robin hood as the picture is shown with its own folder and it still isnt matching.
Could this be a meta data issue? If I try to match it manually with its IMDB number, ie tt0070608, I still get no results.
Thank you
Please download the logs and attach here.
I would like to see what the logs have to report.
Also, where is the “Local Media Assets” agent in your priority stacking for movies?
Any suggestions?
Thank you
I’m sorry that I didn’t see this until now,
and further sorry that I can’t help.
You’re using Windows and this is Linux.
I don’t know nor can I support windows (Don’t even have a Windows VM)

Many RARBG files have Details under Properties and comments with the title they have. Like “RARBG - It.Happened.One.Christmas.1977.WEBRip.x264-ION10”
Is it possible for PLEX to not look at those fields and go off of the file name like. “It Happened One Christmas (1977).mp4”
So do not look at the properties, look only at the file name
I am Using Windows as well, but this is something that has been a problem for years. Would be nice to have fixed.
This is a Linux thread. I cannot help with Windows. I don’t even have a VM anymore.
99% of matching problems are:
My Naming is correct. Sorry on incorrect thread
