The metadata of recently added movies are not being populated during a library scan or match fix. It is being reported “no match found”. TV Series however, are functioning correctly. There has been no changes to the network environment or underlying infrastructure as far as I am aware.
Searching through the forum, I have:
Confirmed agents are in the correct order and configured correctly
Delete all files from \Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Caches
Deleted Services.bundle
Deleted HTTPCookies
Emptied the library trash
Cleaned the bundles
Removed and readied the movie files
Performed database maintenance in case it was corrupted
Launch Terminal, and type below command first. sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder.
Then it will ask to enter a password. …
If everything goes right then you have successfully reset , and flushed the DNS cache on macOS Catalina .
As for naming of files looks okay but I highly recommend Nesting your movie Files in a Folder named the same as file missus the ext. It may not help this situation but speeds up scanning.
It has been noted in the forums with TV series dropping the year can fix obtaining a match for metadata. That is not with Movies.
I flushed DNS again and neither agent (Plex or Movie Database) found the movie.
I removed the movie from the file system and ran a library scan to make sure it was not listed, and then emptied trash and cleaned bundles.
Restarted the Plex server.
Added a directory “1917 (2019)”, then added the file to that directory.
Ran a scan which found the file but did not match it.
Ran a match with both agents and neither agent found the movie.
Used “tt8579674” as the search title. This found and populated some items as per the screenshot below.
Completed the dance. No luck unfortunately. The two movies I am now testing with have no metadata.
Performing a manual match with either agent results in “No Matches Found”.
I also just tried using “tt8579674” as the search title and “The Movie Database” agent. This no fails with “No Matches Found”.
Thinking it might be time to do a reinstall of the server. I am guessing there is some corruption.
I have now uninstalled the Plex Server and have reinstalled, restoring the database (com.plexapp.plugins.library.db).
Adding a new movie neither agent found the movie, returning “No Matches Found”.
Well I have spent the last few days trying to get the agents to function correctly without much success. This has included complete rebuilds and reverting to previous versions. No option worked so in the end I have been forced to admit defeat. Now switching to an alternative product which works. Bye Plex
Same issue. Tried all of the above. logs attched. The macth just comes back with no match whatever I try. Flushed DNS, removed, rescanned, deleted Cache etc - Plex Media Server Logs_2020-03-30_19-58-20.zip (6.3 MB)
Can’t make you fix your names, but if you do this you’ll at least stop Plex from giving priority to that same crap name embedded in the Title Field of MP4/M4V files:
