No Poster/Image Download on QNAP NAS

Server Version#: v1.18.8.2527
QNAP Firmware#: 4.4.1.1216 on TS-453 mini

Hey guys,

my NAS do not get the Posters from new added Movies, do you have any ideas why? I have the same PMS version on a Debian machine, an that works very well!

i tried to edit the “media agent” settings, but it didnt help. Its look like an 500 http error?!

LOG:

do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?

EDIT: the EPG data can’t be updated either. Maybe the same issue?

Curl error 28 means timeout

On your QNAP, verify default gateway, and if okay, then try for a small test and switch DNS to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

Hey dane22,

Thank you for that. The Gateway is correct (Local network behind a AVM FritzBox). I already tried your DNS test, but still the same problem/error in the Plex Logs.
By the way, every other service from the QNAP works good. it seems to be only the imdb agent?!

Greetings

Take a media, that fails, and do the plex dance on that.

Then upload a zip with the logs

in the meantime i once reinstalled the complete serversoftware and added the library again. Now it does not download any pictures at all. For all movies there is a “timeout” of the media agent.

I hope i did it right?

greetings

System log as well as PMS log indicates bad network configuration, with lots of timeout!

Are you 100% sure, that the DNS resolver on your QNAP is set to use Google DNS, and after setting that, did you reboot your QNAP?

This is exactly what I thought when I looked at the data in the log. I have tried almost all possible variants on NAS and FritzBox. Changed the DNS server and rebooted every time. DNS server on 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. additionally I tried the same DNS settings on the FritzBox. Always the same problem.
The NAS is connected via “port bundling”. I also disabled this temporarily, which did not work either. It’s also strange that it suddenly stopped working although the network settings were not changed, I just updated the PMS.

Again a “newer” Log-ZIP:
Plex Media Server Logs_2020-03-20_13-32-41.zip (1.0 MB)

Port bundling?

Are you saying that you have multiple interfaces connected to the same IP-Net via bundling?

If so, can the switch it’s connected towards do LACP

See: Qnap faq.....read me first! Q21

Oh sorry, yes I meant port trunking. I already read that in your QNAP FAQ. I use “balanced-alb”, because nowhere was described that a FritzBox supports LACP/802.3ad.

The funny thing is, in some media the PMS downloads the information, just not the pictures. But usually everything is missing completely and it seems to get stuck in the “update process”.

Unplug one NIC completely, reboot QNAP, and try again

you’ll laugh, but I’ve already tested that too. It’s always the exact same error messages.

Sadly all I can add 4 now is that you are having network issues, and they are not related to Plex

Oh, I was afraid of that. Well, it does look like a network problem. I even tried to rebuild the NAS from scratch. Even now I’m getting the same error messages. I can’t really explain it, because the only thing I changed was the PMS version.

Now I have tried everything again. I even rebuilt the entire QNAP system. Unfortunately the same problem still exists.
The funny thing is that he downloads the information from some movies, but not the posters and pictures of the actors?! can it be a network problem at all if he gets some information?
I’m kind of desperate and I don’t have any ideas what the problem could be…
Enclosed again a current log. maybe he gives nevertheless still information

Well, I see that you have enabled fanart.tv in your agent, but it fails.
Did you add your personal API key to the settings of that agent?

And yes, it’s still caused by timeouts

Try this:

Open an ssh session towards your QNAP

Type:

cd /share/Public
curl http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/eRHBBZA9ErdWv5mXKOJPAvt4iHX.jpg --output james.jpg

After that’s done, do you have a poster for James Bond in your public share?

Yeah, I actually only tried it once in frustration :D. But good to know that this also causes a timeout. I have entered my API, but my account will probably not work anymore. I deleted it again.

Surprise, I have one

by the way, thanks for your patience!!

Can you show a screendump of Network and Virtual Switches on your QNAP?

sure. DNS is back on “auto” by the way.

Nailed it…

Unplug interface 2, reboot, and try again

Unfortunately I had the same thought and have already tested it with only one. I just did it again and added the media library. It still shows me the same error messages.

The curl shell command works in this setup just like before.
for the sake of completeness, i have attached a log (with only one adapter) again. as far as i can tell it is exactly the same, is it?
