Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.42.2.10156-f737b826c-x86_64_DSM72
I was trying to log in to plex on the roku app, but was having issues because I normally login via Google, but was not given that option. I did not remember my password for my account, so I changed it. That ended up logging me out of all my sessions. When I logged back in on Roku, AppleTV, Phone, PC, etc it said my server was unavailable. My server is running on a synology NAS at my parents house, but I am able to login to DSM via my VPN. The NAS is still running, and the plex package is running, but when I try opening it, it says unauthorized. I followed the steps here, but after stopping Plex, updating Preferences.xml, restarting plex, and opening it directly from my NAS, it does not give me the option to claim the server. I tried looking for some other forums for a possible solution, but cannot find anything. Please help.
Follow up on this. It seems like all my friends lost access to my libraries. Is that normal/expected? Is there a way to easily restore this for them without having them re-add the libraries? Some of my friends had a hard time figuring out how to do it the first time, so Iâd rather not have them go through that again.
When you reclaim the server, the server ID is maintained.
If you deleted Preferences.xml, thereby creating a new server, youâll have to add them.
Since theyâre friends, you wonât need to invite them.
Go to Settings - (left panel) Manage Library Access
For each person, confirm their access. It should still be there.
(If it is, check your Remote Access config/settings)
I donât believe I completely deleted the preferences file, but I did modify it. If I were to replace the new one with the backup file, would that restore their access?
If I added them in the way you say, would they have to go through the setup process of selecting the libraries they want, or would it just show back up on the pinned sources?
If you hand modified it, and you damaged it, PMS will most-likely create a new one.
If you were to restore it from a backup --AND-- reclaim it while PMS is still OFF,
everything should come back. Make certain to get the file permissions right. PMS has no special privileged on DSM 7
Reclaim it using the Plex Claim Token method in the installer.
It does not modify any of the ID fields.
