Nvidia shield PMS ever getting updated?

Jonathantate,

Good to hear… Just note that this build breaks the File sharing on windows PCs. As in you can no longer view your files on the Shield from your PC.

Ah, I just noticed that. Well, that’s a huge bummer. Any workaround for getting files onto the server?

Not that I know of… There is a separate thread about it here: Transfer files over local network - No longer working?

Maybe the 1090 build is the Shield version of the 1079 build for other platforms??

I’m using an FTP server app on the Shield. It’s clunky but it’s better than nothing.

Mind sharing which app? I’ve been looking for one in the past few days but they all look unprofessionally made and built for the Android 2.2 ecosystem.

I’m using Ftp Server Pro TV. It’s pretty simple but does the job.

Not installed beta, but this is one thing I thought would really help with diagnosing issues such as being low on memory. I’ve got a 16GB Shield with high-speed 64GB USB stick. Turns out A) I had not set the transcoding path correctly meaning it was using internal memory for this and B) my USB stick had a manufacturing fault resulting in extremely slow write speeds. For the latter, it would be great if Plex could at least provide a performance test to ensure the USB stick provides sufficient performance.

LiveTV is finally working!! Hallelujah!!

Do any of you have the latest stable update? Latest version says it’s released but I don’t see an update available on the Play Store.

I think most of the references here are to the beta builds (Plex Pass only), which have moved onto 1.15.8.1126 currently. This is proving stable for me and fixes most of my gripes (for now).

Everything is working fine so far but having issues with Live TV DVR recordings. If I setup a recording, it fails giving me the message “there was not enough disk space to start recording”. However, if i select record from the something that is playing live, it records no problem. Only seems to be an issue with future recordings. Definitelly have enough disk space and pointing to correct location.

Yesterday, I had the update 1.15.8.1198 for Plex Media Server on my Nvdidia Shield TV.
However, access to files on my NAS is still slow.

Is anyone seeing v1.16.1 available for the Shield yet?

I’ve received a bunch of emails saying I need to upgrade to v1.16.1 by 30th June otherwise I’ll lose EPG and DVR functionality due to a fundamental change in the way they supply EPG data, but I only see v1.16.0.1226 available on Play.

It looks like v1.16.1 was released on the beta channel on 20th June, so only 4 days ago (which is nothing considering how long other updates have taken to appear), but considering the fixed milestone of 30th June is fast approaching, it would be good to have it available (and tested) in good time…

Nothing for me. Asked same question on another thread last week following email stating 1.16.1 would be required for EPG/LiveTV May 30th.

The update for the Shield has already been been submitted to the Google Play appstore. So it should be landing on your device within the next hours.

It will be released publicly probably on Monday.

The Plex Pass version is always a beta. One of the requests when Plex Pass came out was to let Plex Pass users have the option to use betas which may have new functionality or fixes early if they want to. The public is usually released from few days to a week or so later but depends on bunch of things like finding most of the issues with the changes. Sometimes another beta gets released because of issues that may make it not ready for public.

My server version is 1.16.1.1246.
Updated just a couple of days ago.

Edit: tonight I got version 1.16.1.1273

For Nvidia Shield?
Longtime Plex Pass member, Beta channel updates enabled, I’m at 1.16.0.1226.
As someone using Plex for over a decade, I’m increasingly disappointed:unamused:
