That is strange... I guess it means, the transcoder gets out of sync? We'll check.
The fix mentioned above didn’t work for me :-( Still no ”soft”- subtitles when playing non transcoded movies.
But I did notise they when I play a movie that exceeds my bitrate preferences (12MBit) the movie will transcode and it will transited the subtitle as well.
Not enough info to help fix anything :(

Yes, sorry. Please tell me what log/info to provide and I will post it to you! (also have a look at my post on page 4.)

Info that would be helpful (I have added this to the first post):
- Commit you are using
- Subs settings in PlexConnect settings
- Subs settings in Apple's ATV menu
- Attach problem subs as a zip file
- PMS hardware
All the subs are working now but they are out of sync. Tested the same subs on my samsung tv(plex) and they are ok.

Media (Container, Codec...)? Does it need transcoding?
Is it out of sync only after forward/rewind?

Do you use a remote PMS? MyPlex, Sharded Libraries and the likes?
Do you have (locally) "require authentication" set?
Would it be possible for anyone to upload a short sample movie and subtitle for me to try to rule out faulty movies/subs?
Thanks in advance!

- No subtitle gives me "softsub". All subs work when using PMS settings in PlexConnect
- All subs OK in PHT
- Maybe someone can provide me with a test short sub/movie that's known to work ok?

Does it matter which Sub settings a use in Apple's ATV menu? I got the notion that this setting does not affect the way PlexConnect uses subs.

No, just using local PMS (0.9.9.1) without "require authentication" set! Subs OK on PHT and PlexWeb/iOS using transcoding.
Using "Auto" on subtitle settings in PlexConnect results in no subs at all.
Is a .avi file h.264,1080p,mp3. I notice now that the PMS is transcoding the movie.Media (Container, Codec...)? Does it need transcoding?

Not sure how this would help... I just grabbed a SRT, renamed it to fit to some AVIs and the show began (ok, needed somewhat longer, but in the end...)
I need logs. And the offending SRT. And MediaInfo of the accompanieng file. Please drop me a PM with that data.
I’m so sorry! I screwed up! I have been careless when I manually updated PlexConnect and not handled the “assets” folder properly.
Apologies and thanks for all the help!
miniop - new commit, added drop-shadow to improve readability on light/white background. Please check if it helps... :-D
baa : yes now you can see the subs even if the background is white !
Great... now we just need to figure out the sync issue with transcoded files. :-)
When I choose to resume a movie in Plex Connect the subs are out of sync by about 2-3 seconds if my sub settings is set to Auto. Is this normal/expected behavior, or is something wrong in my setup. If I change PlexConnect sub-settings to PMS all subs are in sync!
All testing is done with mkv files and extrema SRT:s
