Overnight media not found as file associated cannot be found

plex version 1.40.2.8395
qnap firmware QTS 5.1.6.2722

Hi, overnight something has happened where Plex no longer sees any of my media. It comes up with that error about the file associated with this item can’t be found. I found online to try refreshing metadata, trying that on whole libraries but so far nothing has changed. When I look at one item in particular, say a Friends episode, the path shown in plex under Get Item shows this:
“/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/CodexPack/share/Multimedia/Plex TV Temp/Friends (1994)/Season 1/S01E01 - Pilot.m4v” and then says Unavailable.

If I check in SSH to my qnap the “/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/CodexPack” exists but the “share” subfolder does not. The main Multimedia share folder exists under “/share/Multimedia/Plex TV Temp” but just when creating library in plex way back when the first path is just how it all got entered automatically.

We were able to watch a number of shows yesterday and last night juts fine, but this issue just today all of a sudden. Anyone else experience this issue or know how to fix? Thanks.

CodexPack is a QNAP issue

This error;

“/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/CodexPack/share/Multimedia/Plex TV Temp/Friends (1994)/Season 1/S01E01 - Pilot.m4v” and then says Unavailable.

is because you’re using the Multimedia shared folder for Plex.
Multimedia shared folder is based on the CodexPack software package.

It has never worked right with Plex. It was written for use with QNAP-provided software.

Please see the QNAP FAQ:

Specifically, you need to point PMS Directly to the shared folder(s) containing the media.

DO NOT USE Multimedia.

example: (My “movies” library)

/share/CACHEDEV2_DATA/movies
/share/CACHEDEV2_DATA/movies2
/share/CACHEDEV2_DATA/uhd

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yeah, not sure what would be going on, I have had it working like this for over 7 years. Anyways, I was able to go in to settings > libraries and modify each library and remove the old path and re-enter the new path again directly under the /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/… path and it went through and scanned and updated (took like a whole day). Just one library left to go. On all libraries when Saving, it keeps coming up with “Your changes could not be saved”, usually have to click Save Changes 3 times for it to work, but this last library I’m on I’ve tried 6 times already and same error message. arg.
changes-not-saved

I removed one of the paths in the library and saved, and now it’s scanning. Hopefully after it’s done I can add the second path for the alternate location in.
