Yes likewise here and exact the same symptoms as described … worked for ages then a few days ago both panasonics exhibited this problem - firstly tho it was the big white screen and the server down for maintenance message but it has now stuck on Plex not reachable
as am I with exact same symptoms
Just read the google forum on their DNS and seems lots of issues - not game to try that - and in any case don’t think its the DNS as other services on the panasonic find their sites ok and what has changed with the panasonic plex client ? did it get an update to 3.13.21 in last 3 or 4 days??
Also in Aust with TPG
Hi Gregn_aus,
Yes I tried the suggested DNS change out of interest and the result was the same.
Like you my setup had been working perfectly for a long time until a few days ago.
The Panasonic Smart TV app that we are using has not been updated for some time, although I find it worked well and was relatively bug free.
To many users it feels like a huge backwards step if we now have to add another device and remote or cast from phone etc to be able to do what we could already do with the Smart TV app.
I am hoping that if Plex managed to fix things for some Panasonic app users a few days ago, that they will continue to look at this and fix it for all users.
Totally agree @zmcwest - I’m more than happy to pay the subscription for what is a great product and service - I certainly hope @BigWheel and the Plex team can sort this problem out for us Panasonic TV users. We just need to get back to where we were last week - let’s hope!!
Same problem in New Zealand as well.
From Lithuania. I’m in the same boat with you guys. Sudden connection problems gave me a headache. Our family used PLEX a lot. This problem with unreachable server dropped like a bomb
on us.
Tried to reinstal my Plex media server on linux - didn’t work
Tried to reset my Panasonic TV factory settings - didn’t work
Tried to delete my Panasonic TV form Authorized Devices and set it up again - didn’t work
Tried to log out from my Media server account and than log in again hopping to do the magic trick
But, sadly, still no solution to the problem.
Plex Web Version 4.34.4
Latest Plex Media Server 1.20.1.3252-a78fef9a9
I can’t think of any reason your TV seem too not want to load the app anymore if most people can load it fine. It is just pretty standard http requests the app would be making. Unless you have something on router or DNS blocking things I don’t yet know what it might be causing this for some. It seems like some of you tried but the only think I can think for you to try is to do factory reset of TV itself as some are bad about clearing data even after an app uninstall.
If your TV is old can can only do TLS 1.0 then that wont work
Likewise tried all those things except the reinstal of the server s/w but the thing is - why did it just stop working for everyone globally?? did the Panasonic client get updated to 3.13.21 around that time ? have not heard an answer to that.
There has to bean answer… somehow…
Sorry but ‘most people can load it fine’ is not the case as the numerous postings here show. There is a class of Panasonic users who are still out in the cold without their app…
The Panasonic app is not supported any more.“most people” who reported issues in the other forum topic got it working after we made a change many. I understand there are some folks who it still does not work.
Though we are still looking into if there is anything else to be done, I know this is not what you want to hear but there is only so much we will do for an unsupported app. We are not going to re-enable TLS 1.0 for example
So is the issue that the Panasonics with 3.13.21 app need that app updated to support more modern TLS versions? Do you guys have any capability to influence this happening?
It won’t happen because the Panasonic app is not getting updated any more. End of story. The small change we made was not a change in the app itself.
So I take it that it’s a major task to bring the Panasonic App to be compliant then? Is it a matter of the Panasonic ‘OS’ being too difficult/primitive or that it is a very low priority for your dev team?
I’m in the UK and also got this issue on a Panasonic unit that has that version of the app. The TV is at least 5 years old but still otherwise working fine and not something I want to have to spend out on at the moment so will have to consider the backward step of additional hardware such as a Chromecast to get it working.
It is a nuisance as we use it almost daily and is great for having the kids films etc all in one manageable, accessible place…if a fix is possible it would be much appreciated, but also understand that things can only be supported for so long.
From memory its because Panasonic TVs don’t identify their capability to support HVEC to Plex (via the App).
This means that the “New” app cant be pushed as older Panasonic TVs cannot run it (I do see the irony in that).
Panasonic run a Firefox OS while now the majority of competitors Android. Panasonic is more focus on imagine quality than usability actually
I solved buying a Amazon Fire TV stick, which has Android and on it run all the new APP, new Plex included super farst seen is a 4 processor with 8 Gb ram for…59 Euros.
It would be much appreciated if users could stop posting saying they’ve found a ‘solution’ to the ‘Plex is not reachable’ error on Panasonic smart TV app by using a Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV stick etc.
We all know about the alternatives to the Smart TV App, so these suggestions are not helpful.
Plex staff attempted a fix which apparently worked for some, but not all Smart TV app users.
It would be great if Plex staff could keep working on that for all Smart TV app users now that they have helped some but not all.
Suggestions to reboot routers, change DNS settings etc are also not helpful for those who’s setups have worked perfectly for years and can still access their server from all apps besides the Smart TV apps as of a few days ago.
To be clear, support for some Smart TV devices did end. There were some device that accidentally loss access and these are the ones that Plex was working to fix. If your device is impacted by the TLS issue, that cannot be fixed.
Same issue as everyone els. So basically we need to wait and hope that Panasonic updates their OS?
