Panasonic TV app suddenly claiming server is offline

We did not edit an old announcement. The date on the bottom of the page is the last time the page was edited. Calling folks liars isn’t going to change anything.

To be clear we stopped updating that app long before that but that is when we officially announced that we stopped supporting.

that being said we didn’t intentionally try to break anything and are going to take a look to see what might be causing the issue.

is there a complete guide for dummies here?

My panasonic, TX-40EX600B 2017 version, pops up an error message saying ‘The server is temporarily unable to service you request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.’ It was working a couple of days ago and it works fine on chromecast. So I’m not sue wich server is in question.

@BigWheel I think he meant this announcement

I can see how Panasonic might have been editted into that.

THIS IS SO ■■■■■■ UP BY FLEX!!!
people have last year’s TV so they don’t deserve the flex app service…

Nope, that thread is the “For Dummies”

No matter how old your TV is, plex stopped supporting the Plex App on Panasonic a year ago.

Just because it still worked until recently does not mean it was supported

When I posted my 1st message yesterday Panasonic WAS NOT in the list. Don’t treat us as a liar. Thx

s-hit online features …! You are handed over to the manufacturer without complaint.

OnPrem only rocks.

To be fair I’d appreciate anything you can do that might resolve the issue.

If there are any feasible alternative options for getting Plex back working on the TV is take that too.

I have plugin alternative options but would prefer it working on the TV.

Don’t understand where the confusion is. The announcement below until yesterday DID NOT mention anything about Panasonic. It was edited today to include it. I only said that was “not nice”.

Ditto.

I’d managed to get away from multiple sticks and remotes with Netflix, Amazon, BBC iPlayer, itv, channels 4 and 5, YouTube and Plex all on the TV and one remote.

Going back to separate devices and multiple remotes is a backward step so anything to resolve this is appreciated.

I thought you we’re talking about the suport doc I linked where we said in December that Panasonic was no longer supported. I wasn’t aware that other announcement was updated but going to try to find out why. I apologize for my confusion about which announcement you were talking about

That app has not been updated in years and won’t be because as far as I am aware their OS cannot handle the current app. Even if a new TV supports something higher than TLS 1.0 that old app does not but going to confirm that soon. I don’t know why it was not included in the recent announcement from a month ago but as soon as I find out I will let

Most streaming boxes (actually all I know) support HDMI CEC which means you can control the TV with the streaming box remote or the streaming box with the tv remote. No need to use multiple remotes if you don’t want to.

Appreciated.

While my Blu-ray player does that, I haven’t seen the same on Amazon stick, Chromecast or Apple TV. Maybe I’ve just got old versions of these.

I’m not bothered about the app being supported or receiving future updates - why could you not just have left the current version working for Panasonic TVs?

Gav.

Hisense TVs have this same plex problem. Would this Lifeshow hack work for them?
I’m pretty technical - any suggestions on how i could do something similar for Hisense?

I’m curious about something.

The error message from the Plex app on these TVs says to be sure that secure connections aren’t DISABLED. I’m assuming that’s a slightly misleading error message, and really means that a secure connection couldn’t be established.

Has anybody looked at their PMS logs when trying to connect from one of these TVs? Or looked at the certificate being served from their PMS server, to be sure it’s a good and valid one?

Additionally, although Plex made cloud changes recently, the screenshots posted refer to local servers.

Can somebody clear their PMS logs, try to connect from a TV, wait a few minutes, and then post the logs here?

I guess it could work, essentially it’s doing a DNS hijack and then routing to a different URL.
