Nevertheless Plex could have chosen (and could still choose) to make the end of support leave things as they were rather than adding a very visible bug. Yes, I’m a Plexpass subscriber too, so having a bug added to my experience by Plex is annoying.
They did leave it in a working state with no bugs when they ended support for it. Unfortunately over time code changes will affect things. The longer things go the more bugs/breaks will happen. The best advise is to move to a supported system (fire TV is one that will be around for a long time IMO just because of the size of the userbase)
Please note that the error posted in the original message is not an error from the Plex for Smart TV app. That is from the TV’s operating system directly.
MovieFan, are you really a Plex Employee? Do you know if it exist a plan to solve problems of latest release?
I got the new app last night. Who else has the new Panasonic app? So far so good, only used it once. Got a message that shows may be transcoded, hoping that’s a one off and not every single playback.
@Zanac If you are asking about the error in the OP, the answer is no. That error is not coming from Plex, it’s from the TV itself. You’ll need to contact Panasonic on why it’s not working. Please note that base don that image, that TV is running a very old version of the Plex app which is no longer supported. Plex has left the app to be available on these older TVs but if Panasonic has decided to remove the app from their Appstore, there isn’t anything Plex can do about that.
There is a newer version of the app available on certain Panasonic TVs. I don’t know which models will have this but if it is supported, it will just be there. If you don’t see the new app, then it’s not available for that model.
The problem is actually with new app, the old one work well (it give the error but all files work nice)… The new app instead has a lot of issue and dont play a lot of files.
Which PMS are you on? I was having problems playing back but just updated to 1.24.1.4931 and have had fewer problems - the files that didn’t play previously now do so.
Please provide details so we can investigate.
Phoebus, i installed 1.24.0.4930, now i’m travelling… i will back to home tomorrow, very good news! So 1.24.1.4931 is compatible with all files like old legacy app?
I’ve not used the app too much since the update but really liking the changes, including:
- photos screen saver
- info can be displayed while playing
- UI
- subtitles adjustment
Not had playback issues since the PMS update. The old Panasonic app transcoded most shows and suspect it’ll be the same here but not had too many buffering issues, perhaps a buffer or two pause more frequent than before. But overall I much prefer the new app and liking the increase in options and information!
Same poblem with Panasonic here, suddenly the app or the TvOS/App connection doesn’t work,
the TV is still looking for a connection with the remote server while there is 3 days working well
