User “Guest” issues here - I’m not sure what the issue here is / how to resolve it?
The subnets are mostly 1. my segregated docker networks (i.e., internal services on a network, things exposed to internet are on a separate one) 2. an internal IoT network, was testing this yesterday to see if it made any impact on the issue (it did not)
Though as a note - I’ve not touched anything network or config related in a few months, and issue came out of nowhere. I tried a bunch of fixes (rollback, db repair, deleting cache folder, switching docker images, permissions, etc..), but nothing has worked so far
I’m trying to figure out what changed as well.
I think something in 1.41.7 changed to start this.
IF I understand correctly, PMS keeps the “Guest” user differently than if it’s a real account shared.
IMHO, it seems as if it’s almost an anonymous user. (which isn’t how anything Plex works. (very contradictory and why i’m confused with this)
I am going to get some Engineer time on Monday to become educated on what Guest really refers to and the impact it has (e.q. Sharing videos with “Guest” vs Sharing videos with “ChuckPa”).
Can you easily switch PMS versions? If you can, would I be asking too much to try backing down to 1.41.6 and retesting your playback faults?
Regarding the tautulli faulting. IIRC, just reauthenticate it to the server and it will be fine. Make certain you’re pointing it at the genuine server / URL and not one with ‘plex.direct’ references (those expire and will cause this problem)
I downgraded to 1.41.6.9685; no impact on the issue
I also tried 1.41.5.9522 and 1.40.5.8921 for good measure, error still persists as-is
FYI - it’s not an issue with just the Guest user; it’s an issue with all users (both my account, as well as people I share my server with)

I just freed up an i3-7300 (4x4 brick).
I’ll reload it with Unraid and get that going again.
I cannot replicate the problem on any of the platforms I have (QNAP, Syno, Nvidia, ProxMox, TrueNAS, and various Docker & Linux distros in LXC)
This is the best I can do. We will find out (process of elimination) whether it works or not.

@ChuckPa I have the issue active right now. I’m happy to do a screen sharing session, give you my logs, etc. Im on Pacific time zone, and my schedule is flexible over the next week. LMK if you want to dig into my system. FWIW, mine is on a Ubuntu VM, not Unraid.
I have a problem with my Unraid USB.
I’ve reached out to Unraid support and expect them to reply promptly as they always do.
I tried the new USB creator and it’s got a problem so that’s question #2 to resolve.
I want to independently confirm the failure or lack thereof.
From there, we can side-by-side compare and find the root cause.
Resolved the USB creator issue. Now awaiting reply to my other question.
I’ll be making changes to this Unraid setup (replacing a Blue SSD which is barking SMART errors)
The machine, i3-7100 (NUC7 I3 BNK), is otherwise up and running.
I’ll recreate the JBOD Array (1 drive) later today when the replacement SSD comes.
At present,
- Docker is running,
1.41.7.9823-59f304c16is running, - PMS is playing on iPad 10.7" (2017 Ipad Pro)
- Containr is privileged (for GPU access) – fix that later.
- CPU load fluctuates 2- 20% (transcoding)
I worked with Hungarianhc last night for a bit. From what we could determine, the actual play request is never launching.
I’ve reached out to Engineering to ask for their assistance in how to get deeper into PMS and see where it’s failing.
Happy to also provide anything needed to help solve the issue! (logs, remote access, etc…)

- I use a separate pool for appdata
- /glock is not something I have mapped in my container
- no mapping for /dev/dri as I can see
- Are you using macvlan or ipvlan?
I checked with my friends who use Unraid - I’m the only one with the issue, so it’s a bit weird / inconsistent. My thinking is it’s something to do with my PLEX settings / instance rather than Unraid

- Separate pool is ok – provided all Linux privileges work out (PUID/PGID)
- /glock is my NAS Glockner,
/glockis a habitual mount point dir - Being privileged, it gets /dev
– to make it run unprivileged, lower level linux tweaks need be added) - No macvlan for this. It’s all 100% on the default VLAN 1
I have 11 operating machines – all on the same subnet.
Only TVs are on IoT vlans with PMS access rules added. I can create as vlan isolation as I need but PMS sits on the main
I mean unraid’s docker networking - there were issues a while back, I tried toggling it but it didn’t impact my issue at all
