As this appears to be a well known issue, I’m just wondering if there is a fix coming? I uninstalled and reinstalled Plex from my firetv and still have the same issue. Hooked a roku to that TV and it works fine. Is there a fix other than lowering the video quality?
Other than this problem, which is a huge one, I love the FireTV Stick 4k. 80% of my use of it is for Plex though, so I’m going to return it. I really don’t get why there’s so little movement when this problem is well-known and has been around for such a long time. I don’t even see builds that attempt to fix it or comments discussing the progress, just nothing at all.
I sold my nVidia Shield and brought an Apple TV 4K now due to the instability of the Android Plex client, had no problems at all with the Apple TV since I got it about 4 weeks ago… I’ve got a 4K firestick still in another room which we occasionally watch, stability on that is getting better but playing anything recorded by Plex DVR just kills the firestick to the point it can’t even play things from amazon until I restart it.
It’s ALL videos, not just some. The Fire TV will not play ANY videos from PMS for over a week now. Worked fine before, now it does not work at all. The PMS is fine, all other devices including Fire TV sticks work perfectly with no erros. Come on Plex, I paid a big chuck for a lifetime Plex Pass, now it’s your turn to do your part and make this work for your paying customers.
Fire TV Sticks work perfectly too and are a FRACTION of the price of Apple TV… IJS
Hello devs, this issue has persisted on an Insignia Fire TV for several days now. Every other media player can stream from the server fine. Only the Fire TV exhibits this error. Please fix.
I have an Insignia FireTV from Amazon and bought it specifically to play PLEX in a workshop area. It has worked fine for a couple of months and then it stopped working about a week or so ago and everything I tried, has not worked. I even tried to go to the lowest resolution possible, and no change. How do I roll back to a working version? Is there a website that actually lists versions to download? I am not sure how to handle rolling back a version on a FireTV. Can anyone help? Does Plex read these posts and respond???
Just cancel your Plex Pass (as i did) until the issue is fixed. Vote with your wallet. I personally find Plex support to be patronising, unhelpful and somewhat arrogant. The fact this issue is still not fixed, and its been going on for how many months now, says pretty much everything you need to know about Plex.
Just to add, Emby works fine.
+1 on the Insignia Fire TV issue. It’s given me the “Playback has stopped…” error for the last couple weeks that I know of. Works with all other players, iPhones, Fire Tablets, Fire Sticks, Roku Stick and Windows 10 PC’s.
Insignia Fire TV info:
Plex version 7.14.1.9954, Fire OS version 6.2.6.0 (NS6260/1843), Fire TV Home version 6.1.5.1-002. TV model: INSIGNIA_NS-39DF510NA19
I believe this may be an incompatiblity with HEVC hardware decoders. There is no issue for me when playing back HEVC 8-Bit files. The second it’s 10-Bit this is the error I get.
I don’t know what sparked this or why it doesn’t just fallback to transcoding but if others could check and confirm or deny that would go a long way.
Is this seriously still not fixed?
I check back in this topic every few weeks and no progress whatsoever. I have even pinned this page to my bookmarks bar!
I mainly ahve issues with videos that were recorded on my iPhone or Panasonic RX100 mk1 that I have imported into Adobe Lightroom (Plex also has this folder as a library folder). This allows me to quickly import new photos and videos from my two cameras into Lightroom and then the videos are accessible over Plex. Well they would be if they worked correctly.
Please, anyone at Plex, can you at least give us a status update on this?
This issue was created in February of last year. It’s been well over a year and there is no end in sight unfortunately
I WANT to become a Plex Pass member but refuse to do so until I can get Plex working as I want and this is the only problem i’m having with it as of now…
I’m having this issue with my Firestick TV, Fire Cube, LG Smart TV, and plex web.
Please fix this!
+1 on Insignia TV with Fire. Just started causing this problem this week. Was working up until this point. Seems to be any video playback although I haven’t looked into it further. Clearly this is not just my issue so I am not going to bother digging into the logs, etc. unless someone thinks it could be my configuration? My TV and server are sitting on the same wired network, not even using wi-fi.
+1 on Insignia TV with Fire here too. The Plex app worked great since Christmas. About 3-4 weeks ago it updated and now the Plex app will not play anything.
+1 on Insignia TV with Fire. The Plex app worked great since March. Last week I noticed the Plex app will not play bluray rips now. It will play files recorded with Plex DVR.
I have updated server on Windows 10 to version 1.15.4.994-107756f7e.
39" Insignia Fire TV client is version 7.15.0.10215.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Fire TV client - no help.
+1 for Insignia Fire TV not working. Plex worked fine until a few weeks ago and now no matter what I try, it only displays the error this thread was created about. I have an HTPC with PMP and the server hosted on it, several Roku devices, Fire TV devices, mobile devices, and this one Insignia TV. Everything works except this TV. I’ve made sure to have the server up to date. Also, a friend has the exact same TV for her son and confirmed the issue is the same on it but her android phone and Xbox One work just fine streaming remotely from my server, as do the dozen other remote users I share with. It’s just this specific TV for some reason.
+1 for me as well. The same playback issue with the Insignia Fire TV. All of my other Fire devices work just fine. I have only noticed the issue over the past few weeks. Please offer a solution. Do I really need to buy a Fire Stick for my Fire TV so Plex can work???
I am not so sure this is Plex only. I set my server back version by version until 6 months ago and I continued to get the error on my Insignia TV. I know it was working during this time period. So reverting back to previous versions of Plex does not seem to be fixing this issue.
My Fire TV is on version 6.2.6.0. Apparently this was released in early March which was probably about the time that the problems started happening?
I’m not sure what to do anymore, I am on Verizon FIOS fiber optics so I have a very good connection 75up/75down and my switch in my home is gigabit (everything is hard wired that matters). I am at the newest Plex version 1.15.4.994, My Plex server is a Dell Server running Windows Server 2016 with power options at optimal performance. I’ve tried everything I can think of so I am pleading with someone for some input. I’ve changed it to run Plex as a service thinking maybe the service was failing but it is still enabled even when Plex stops responding remotely. Now here is the issue, everyday without rhyme or reason my Plex server becomes disconnected, the service is still running however I cannot get to it remotely, starting Plex again gets it back up and running but it is no longer consistently connected at all, in the infancy days of Plex I ALWAYS had a solid connection, anyone else seeing this? I’ve tried every conceivable option in Plex without a resolution, I even created a task to reboot my server with a powershell script and task daily @ 5am, when it comes back up the service starts and it is running again but it could be anywhere from 3 to 12 hours before it mysteriously drops again. I’m a little frustrated because after paying all that money for a Plex Pass I am still having these issues and unable to use my Plex to its full potential. Give me some feedback please, I just turns on debugging so I will provide logs once I see it has disconnected again.
i just bought a $20 roku and problem solved. Not ideal, but not expensive either.
