Will there be any update for Playstation 5? the state of Plex on PS4 is horrendous. Alot of bugs, laggy app, lots of errors.
I hope so! The PS5 app is currently unuseable. A little information on when we can expect an update would be nice… are they working on it? A rough idea of timescales perhaps…
Updates are coming, hold tight. There will be one or two fixes that address some playback issues on the PS5 in the next update, but we’re working on a larger update with Sony to address other reported issues.

More player-related fixes are coming early next week.
Will this update come in the form of an update as a full app update through the PlayStation Store, or similar to the last one?
Similar to the last one. Platform updates, where a new app build is submitted to Sony for certification, are generally very rare and we will call those out when they happen. Most application updates are available after reloading the app once we’ve rolled it out.

Can we get some info on the expected fixes for this round of updates?
Yep. There’ll be an update to the player framework which should fix/improve playback of some media, as well as some Live TV and News channels. There’ll be a fix for colors for some HDR content, though some problematic HDR content still remains which we’re looking into. Finally there’s a fix for the player time sometimes erroneously jumping to zero, and a fix for watch progress being reset when stopping playback.
No mention of a fix for not finding the local server on the PS5? The lack of response from you guys about this issue is perplexing, as it seems to be affecting a number of users, myself very much included.
We’re still looking into that issue, but have you tried some of the suggestions in this thread around DNS rebinding router changes and such?

So since the last update (Ps5) 5.9.1 the tone mapping has been corrected but the buffering is worse than ever. Again I have tried everything but still nothing works. The thumbnails even struggle to load into the library within the UI. Something seems to be throttling the data exchange.
Do you have any further updates on a fix?
Had just gotten a PS5 App update on the PS5 itself. Anyone know what changes were made? One of my files is HEVC Main 10 and I was surprised to see it not coming out all green like it usually would. I tried a few other HEVC files though and the green was still there. I’m not knocking anyone cause you guys are great and work hard. I’m just wondering if there’s a possible timeline or any progress reports on it? Would love to make my PS5 my primary method for Plex and not my PS4. Thanks for the info!
You got me all excited but unfortunately it still buffers and stops playing like before. You won’t be able to make it your primary method just yet.
I feel ya. When that first movie actually played without distortion I was super excited. Then I tried another one… I was watching an older movie today and it was working alright till the last 20 minutes or so. Started buffering like crazy so had to switch back to the PS4. Looking forward to the day when the PS5 Plex app works well.
Plex Live TV Audio does not work:( Hdhomerun user here.
I have to say that the PS5 Implementation of Plex is really disappointing.
The UI, animations and playback all are terrible.
Conversely, YouTube and Netflix work great on the console.
Please do better guys and take advantage of the power of the console.
This is not the experience we want from Plex.
Yep just got my PS5 on sat plex is basically unusable. I cant even get 1080P content in an MKV with Atmos to play without it trying to transcode and constant buffering. Same movie plays fine on plex on my Vizio P series. Im sure they will get it worked out but just wanted to comment so the devs see more people with the issue. I also have an issue with 4K UHD disks only playing at 1080P but that appears to be a TV issue with a firmware update coming…gotta love being an early adopter…lol
Same issues, here, worked perfectly on ps4 pro, functionally unusable on ps5.

As well as stuttering issues, I am getting weird seeking issues. After the first time the stream failed, I restarted the application, and resumed playback. While it had failed at roughly the 8 minute mark, all attempts to resume stubbornly refused to allow me to get back to that time. It kept starting between 20 and 40 minutes in, and manually using the seek bar to set the right time would auto snap back to anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes. This was consistent through app and console restarts, and between each attempt, I would mark the episode as complete on the web version.
Hope this is fixed soon, I was kind of expecting the ps5 version to work better!
