Playstation 5 player simply will not connect to a local server. Reports “[xxx] is Currently Unvailable / Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection” …
PS5 is on the same switch (not router/firewall) as the plex server, and the same /23 subnet.
Playstation 4 player on the same switch unaffected.
Another person in r/plex was also reporting this issue. I believe it is a client issue (because I can’t even see the packets coming at the server ;o). Unfortunately my switch is dumb so I can only check this from the PC side.
Can confirm: Plex app on PS5 is unable to see my server, whether by logging in or entering its address in the “manual server” settings. Plex app on PS4 works fine on the same network.
Can also confirm. having the same exact issue. i was the one that originally posted on reddit and only got a real reply from elshandra. the rest were snarky salt cuz i got a PS5. people sometimes…i swear. i just asked a simple question…lol.
Initially, my settings were:
Server: Secure Connections: Preferred
Client: Default
I have also tried:
Server: Secure Connections: Preferred
Client:
Allow Insecure Connections: On same Network;
Prefer Insecure Connections: On same Network;
Server: Secure Connections: Preferred
Client:
Allow Insecure Connections: Never
Prefer Insecure Connections: Never
Server: Secure Connections: Required
Client:
Allow Insecure Connections: Never
Prefer Insecure Connections: Never
No matter what I do with the client settings, it is not sending any traffic to my sever (I’ve been running wireshark). I can see the broadcast traffic from the PS5, if I ping the PS5, I can see the echo requests and replies. But whatever I do in plex, results in network silence.
e: FWIW, I also tried turning logging on … hoping that maybe the logging engine would at least send me some data, but nope still silence.
I also can’t connect locally. Interestingly, of the two remote servers I’m shared, one works and the other has the same error as local. I do not know what the difference between those remote servers is, but it’s hopeful that one works.
Mine didn’t want to initially connect to Plex. But after restarting the server and updating in the PS5 it works fine. But live TV doesn’t directly for some reason. It just sits at buffering unless you drop the amount down so it can trans code
I wonder if the issue is Windows 10. Did you do the new update on Windows 10? I’ve been having issues since then in terms of live TV staying in sync and server visibility.
My servers are solid for all other uses (Android, PS4, Web). I did do the update to Windows 10, and I don’t run any firewall/network/virus protection (other than Defender.)
Also, there is no traffic coming to the server. Until there is traffic coming to the server, it is probably irrelevant.
I am curious as to what version of System Software you have on your PS5 though, if it is working for you to a local server.
I’m glad its not just me having this issue. Tried Uninstaller plex and re linking. Tried updating and restarting the server. Tried manual connection. Haven’t tried port fwding bc I don’t know which ports to open for ps5. Guess the pro will be used for plex for now
Just adding to the count, new PS5 users - same settings/version’s as above and PS5 unable to see/connect to the server (thinks it’s offline/unreachable). PS4/TV app connect fine as usual.
Another here with the same issue. PS4 Pro is working fine. I spent a couple of hours messing with this trying to match all the settings in the PS5 app etc before finding this thread.
I just want to add to the count as well; I can’t connect to my server. FWIW I use Ubuntu, not Windows, and the app works fine on my AppleTV but can’t get a server connection on PS5. PS5 is my first game console so I can’t weigh in on it working on prior consoles. Currently on my PS5 the live TV function works without issue.
