I just see a bunch of this in my logs..

None of this explains why stuff I have had on your Plex Agent for well over a year is now completely unable to access the Plex Agent - with zero changes on my side.
There is something fundamentally broken with PMS versions after 1.41.5.9522. Roll back to this version, update to the new agents if youāre on the legacy, and itāll work perfectly. Plex folks blaming our networks, DNS settings, ISPs, configurations⦠is completely off the mark. Itās 100% within their application.
Yep. Mine broke a few weeks ago but a fix seems to have been applied shortly after but as of yesterday, I am back to the having same issue. If Plex canāt get their crap together, I am just going to switch to a different platform. This is ridiculous.
Just to bring this up again:
Iām tracking an issue with a possible race condition which may be the issue that @carlhorned is seeing but I need more logs to see if I see this pattern with other people.
This also may explain why this is affecting people randomly and affecting only a small amount of people. I havenāt been able to reproduce this problem but the log I do have does seem to point in this direction.
@drzoidberg33 - Thanks for looking into it. Please find attached. Hope this helps and happy to help with any more troubleshooting if required.
Restarted and tried to match a couple of movies and shows.
No matches found.
Plex Media Server Logs_2025-05-16_23-08-09.zip (1.4 MB)
Tried everything in this thread as well as updated to beta v.1.41.7.9795 and these did not work.
Can also confirm, reverting back to Plex Media Server for Windows v.1.41.5.9522 is the fix to my issues of getting the metadata for new movies added.
Is there a way in the application to roll back or do I have to lose all my watch data and personal media updates by uninstalling and then installing the old version? v.1.41.5.9522
No way in-app, to roll back. I just re-ran the installer of the older version and it installed over the current.
This was at least my experience on Windows 11 PMS.
Thanks. I had success or what looks like success so far.
- Closed or ended tasks for Chrome, Tautulli, and Plex
- Restarted the Plex service
- Started Plex
- Edited libraries
- Selected Plex XXX Scanner
- And either the TVDB or the movies DB
- Then the red (i) shows up and when clicked on it asks you to update.
- Update the metadata after update
Been scanning for 8 hours and is still going. But Iām able to find match again. Though when looking at my Movies library for this post it reverted back to Plex Movie\Plex Movie, so I expect a failure in the coming days.
This can have issues with corrupt data when switching back and forth between meta
Agreed, better to downgrade to v.1.41.5.9522 and stay on that version until Plex fixes the agent matching issues. v.1.41.5.9522 has been running flawlessly.
I canāt seem to downgrade on docker. It keeps upgrading lol.. gave up and sitting in a broken state
Lol my bad, Iām running Windows 11 so the process to downgrade is easy.
I would help here but I have already reverted and will not be updating until its fixed. I do not feel this is a race condition with limited people having this issue, this seems to be a lot more people here affected than you guys want to believe. You are losing your user base with these updates and you could care less it seems. Good thing I am working on an alternative
This worked. MVP!
Change to another agent, it complains and makes you change it back, fixed.
All of my stuff stopped working around the same dates as everyone else.
I noticed descriptions and such were off and thought it was my ad-blockers but digging through that, it was not. Some movies that should easily have been matched werenāt and when hitting the search button, it instantly returned zero results despite what I put in there.
UPDATE: After all my libraries finished scanning the Scanner and Agent switched back to Plex Movie or Plex Shows on its own. All shows are still updating automatically and the Fix Match is working again though I donāt have a reason to use it. I added a new show today and it picked everything up as it should. The only issue i see is that my system appears to be scanning all the time now. I have it set to Scan daily and when a folder is updated, but it just keeps going⦠Canāt be good for longevity, but for now my system is working properly. Hope this helps someone out there who was struggling like me.
I will mention again for anyone reading this later. This is a temporary solution and can lead to your meta data library being corrupted per the comments above.
I had already updated my Synology DSM version as part of trying to troubleshoot this issue, and the supposedly stable version of PMS cannot run on that newer version of DSM⦠so I am completely up ā ā ā ā creek at this moment.
