sudo ls -la /WinShare/Media/Films
ls: cannot access ‘/WinShare/Media/Films’: No such file or directory
Yeah so basically there’s no /WinShare/Media/Films lol.
do: sudo ls -la /WinShare
if that exists. do: sudo ls -la /WinShare/Media
If nothing works do sudo ls -la /
Warning on that last one. If you paste it here, everyone will be able to see what you have on your root. Should be safe if you have a default install.
The / is an invalid option so I left it out.

Two common places are /media and /mnt
So see if you can find the directories you’re familiar with inside them. Do: ls -la /media and ls -la /mnt
root@freenas[~]# ls -la /media

Okay now do: ls -la /mnt/WinShare/Media/Films
Yes that list all my films, and they all belong to plex so to speak

drwxrwxrwx 22 plex plex 28 Sep 5 20:45 .
drwxrwxrwx 9 plex plex 10 Sep 13 19:04 …
Go inside your Films diretories. I assume you have them in subfolders, like /mnt/WinShare/Media/Films/Titanic (2001)/
Then look at the permissions of the movie files. Are they also rwxrwxrwx? Are the movie folders also rwxrwxrwx?
A couple of things here: First, I can see the films in a network folder on my desktop, but I can’t see the permissions for each film, could not be determined. I don’t know to check them.
The Films dataset permissions are group and owner is plex with full control
Sorry I missed this:
From the ls -la / command , the listing of all the films have
rwxrwxrwx 2 plex plex 3 Sep 4 2022 ‘Glass (2019) [BluRay] [1080p] [YTS.AM]’
find one of the movie folders that you can see on your network folder. Copy the name of the folder (presumably it should be a movie name, like Titanic (2001).
Then do: ls -la /mnt/WinShare/Media/Films/[folder name here]
Sorry I missed this:
From the ls -la / command , the listing of all the films have
rwxrwxrwx 2 plex plex 3 Sep 4 2022 ‘Glass (2019) [BluRay] [1080p] [YTS.AM]’
Oh you have spaces so do: ls -la “/mnt/WinShare/Media/Films/Glass (2019) [BluRay] [1080p] [YTS.AM]”
Anyway, on the Plex library this is the address you should use: /mnt/WinShare/Media/Films/
Yes that is what I thought and tried but no media files are there under Films in Plex.
This why i have tried other combinations to if they picked up the media files, but they didn’t
add /mnt/WinShare/Media/Films as a path in your library, preform a scan, and then upload your server logs.
EDIT Is plex running on the same computer that you are running these commands or is it running on a NAS?
Plex is running on TrueNAS Scale 24.04, all my media files are on the NAS.
He means the plex logs. In the plex server settings there’s a button to download the logs.
Sorry, I misunderstood.
No, if you see the link in the server logs <= See yellow link, it will show you how to download the log zip file that I was asking about.
