Plex deleted my movie?! Can't add it back

Hello, i’ve had Plex for years and have never seen this. I bought a 3D TV years ago and the first movie i bought was Tron Legacy. The 3D version also came with a regular digital copy. I ripped and added both versions to plex right at the begining. No issues, until a few months ago when i noticed it was gone. I still have the original tron but not part 2 ( both versions missing ). I’ve tried deleting the file then refresh plex. Added the files back and it won’t re-detect them. I’ve tried renaming the files, tried ripping in different formats, tried adding it’s own folder to the plex library and no luck. It’s the only movie i’ve lost and can’t get back. I’ve since installed 20 other movies in the same folder and all of them were detected with no problems. I’m out of ideas, can anyone help?

PMS version & platform?

Please show how you have the files named and organized.

Also, try sorting for duplicates. It may have been combined with another movie.

PMS Version 4.108.0 and file name is Tron Legacy (2010).

That is the version of Plex Web.

Look in Settings → Server_Name → General. It will be 1.29.something, 1.32.something, etc.

Full name including directory path, which folder is added to the library, and file extension (mkv/mp4/etc).
If you still have the 3D version on your system, include its information as well.

You can also try using Editions to separate the two listings.

Plex Dance both movies after renaming/reorganizing. Simply renaming is not enough.
Move them back to the movie library one at a time. Wait for Plex to finish recognizing one before adding the other.

/movies <-- folder added to movie library
.../TRON Legacy (2010) {edition-3D} <-- must use curly quotes for edition.
....../TRON Legacy (2010) {edition-3D}.ext <-- ext = mkv/mp4/etc
.../TRON Legacy (2010)
....../TRON Legacy (2010).ext

I see, the Version is 1.32.5.7349. The file is N:\Movies\Tron Legacy (2010).mkv & M:\Movies\Scifi\Tron Legacy (2010).mp4.

I’ll skip the 3d version for now. I would be happy with 1 of them working for now.

All the other movies in these folders are being recognized.

Editions are a Plex Pass feature only, so you’re stuck with using versions
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200381043-multi-version-movies/

I would name them like this and Plex dance them

Tron (1982) {imdb- tt0084827}.mkv
Tron Legacy (2010) {imdb- tt1104001}.mkv
Tron Legacy (2010) - 3D.mkv

The 2nd two movies will get collapsed into one poster but they’re both there

You have to select the movie then “play version” and select the one you want

Editions show up individually in the library so it’s nicer having them permanently separated but that’s not an option for you, unfortunately

Dang it. Thanks for catching that.

I paid full price for plex years ago. I’m not a plex pass member?

You may but not on the account you’re using to access this forum.

Where you see Plex Ninja next to FordGuys name you would see “Plex Pass” by yours

I see, i’ll try to fix that. I also tried the the new renaming and that didn’t help.

I was able to sign in with my plex pass account now.

Make sure @excaliburlives is the one that owns the server. That will enable Plex Pass features.

Look in Settings → Server_Name → General. You’ll see “server claimed by emailaddress.” Make sure it is the same address used for @excaliburlives.
