Hello.
First of all, as I’m french, please pardon my English.
It’s been a few months that I’m unable to read my movies with PMS, running on a Synology. Indeed, when I try to connect with the web client, I got the following message
(You can’t tell from the screenshot, but I reach my NAS via http://monolith:32400/web/index.html, “monolith” being declared in my /etc/hosts (in my laptop), pointing on 192.168.0.199, this being the fixed IP for my NAS)
Being unable to fix this by myself (usually, formers problems could be fixed by setting “Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections” to “Always”), I’m reaching you for help.
I deduced from this message that the server can’t be found by … I don’t know what can’t find it. If server is unreachable, how can I even get this web page, that is generated by the server itself. I also believe that the problem doesn’t come from unreachable libraries, as I would at least see my NAS in the server list… I should add that the Android app can’t find the server either.
So I go to the settings, looking for the source of my troubles, and I see that something is missing…
The “Server” option desapeared (which makes sense as the server is unreachable). Therefore, I can’t even simply fetch the logs (nonetheless I can get them by SSH, but you’ll have to tell me which file I should get)
So the first thing I did was to update PMS (updated on 12/13/2017), but it didn’t do anything helpfull.
I showed up my NAS and PMS specs at the end of the message. I also uninstalled PMS and installed it back just in case something was blocking it in the config files, but it didn’t worked.
I also followed instructions that I found in https://help.plex.tv/noserver :
- I have the current version of PMS
- PMS is up and running (as shown in Synology package center)
- My server isn’t listed on the device page
- No VPN, no proxies involved
- I’ve allowed unsecured connections
- I logged off both server and app.
- I logged in the server, then in the app
- Both app and server are on the same network
- Still can’t access server settings, event with 192.168.0.199
####Worth to mention
- Only by using the app, I can access what I’ve queued (mostly youtube videos) and recommendations (nothing shows up in here), and “News”.
- When using the local web client (192.168.0.199), the function nearby the Settings icon doesn’t find my Chromecast, up and running on the same network.
Thanks a lot for your help
