Plex DVR, Trying to watch Live TV but get error "Unable to tune channel (no parts)"

OK, any ETA on this getting fixed? I tested it all again with the newer build because you mentioned there was a fix for it.

Same here. Any updates?

I do not have any more information to share with you at this moment. It is with the development team

It may not be exactly the same issue. And also the more examples and evidence of a problem being provided then the higher the urgency goes.

So please try and get diagnostic logs / screenshots of errors

Ensure debug logging is enabled
Restart the server

Then reproduce the problem

You could also try to delete the DVR and recreate it

Hi SA2000,
I too get ā€˜Unable to tune channel’ since the update to Version 1.13.8.5395
I’ve tried:
Reboot - Turn it off and on again
Clearing Bundles, Optimising Database
Completely deleting the two Tuners I use and re-adding, re-scanning etc.
rebooting it all again for good measure.

After some time selecting any channel: ā€˜Unable to tune channel’
Tuners work fine with other tuning software (mediaportal) and were working on plex perfectly before update.

Win 10

I’m not super keen to post a whole set of logs on a public forum as I have no idea what might be in there… but as a start I looked at the failure in the Tuner Log, you can see the request start, then all the stop flags kicking in after this line: [1576] WARN - [E] http_streamer_t: http write error

Just so you know, I went back to my DVR setup and I still had my old Huappage winTV dual tuner in there, I never deleted it when I added the HDhomerun Quatro. Once I deleted the Huappage tuner everything works fine now, i can tune channels in plex without an issue. Just wanted to follow up with that since that seemed to be my issue.

Thanks for the feedback. I have passed it on. Was the WinTV setup for use by Plex Media Server?

Unfortunately any DVRs setup within Plex Media Server would get used for tuning and the tuning error was on the Huappage winTV device which presumably had no signal / aerial connection.

Thank you very much for identifying the problem

I am discussing with the development team improvements to the logging and error messages for cases where there is more than one DVR device

Yes the WinTV was setup for use in Plex.

but i presume has no signal / aerial

correct, it wasn’t even plugged into my server anymore.

I was able to get everything working again by rolling plex back to 1.13.6.5339

voila, it all works again, at least for me

I have the same problem with CentOS 7 server (Plex version 1.13.8.5395), VU+ Solo2 (and Duo2) with OpenPLi 6.2 and HRTunerPorxy 4.0.

Also testet with Windows 10 PC. - Same result.

Any solution on problem…?

Where were you able to download this?

I followed these instructions

My setup also broke after the recent update. I uninstalled and re-installed version 1.13.5.5332 and now it’s working fine again.

I’m running Plex on Windows Server 2016 with an August DVB stick from Amazon.

1.13.8.5395 broke mine too. If I terminate the Plex Media Server.exe process and restart Plex dvr works for a unknown amount of time before stopping again.

Tuner log shows

Oct 05, 2018 16:14:26.234 [7376] WARN - [E] http_streamer_t: http write error

edit: Windows 7, Hauppauge wintv pcie

Just to add, 1.13.8.5395 broke mine too with the ā€˜Unable to tune channel’ error, rolling back to 1.13.7.5369 fixed it. My tuner is Hauppauge Wintv dual hd and PMS is running on Windows 10 64-bit.

1.13.7.5369 can be downloaded here

Thanks for the link,

nice to know the update broke ā€˜supported tuners’ too. I was thinking of buying one to try and overcome the issue but now I won’t bother!

I just started trying to use the DVR and 95% of the time, it just does not work. This is the current error I receive. So, I am here to piggyback the issue in hopes it gets fixed.
