Plex DVR, Trying to watch Live TV but get error "Unable to tune channel (no parts)"

Thank you so much for this link. I too was on 1.13.8.5395 and my Live Tv with my HDHomerun Connect stopped working. Going back to the version you supplied fixed it for me. I’ll be skipping 5395.

With all these supported tuners broken too, I’m wondering if Plex even bothered testing TV on this build…

Rollback to 1.13.7.5369 resolved my issues thank you.

Stable for a couple of days now.

How can i rollback on Nvidia Shield?

Anyone with issues on 1.13.8 please upload logs so that we can see if issues are HDHomeRun are similar to ones being investigated for USB and PCIe tuners

Please also include details of what time the error arose

I posted some logs in this forum. I’m using a WinTV Quad HD.

So for the last 3 versions (5388, 5395 and 5439) I have been unable to tune a channel.

Attached are the logs and db
Here’s a summary of what I just did

  • Upgraded to 5439
  • Rebooted
  • At 9:42 am dest I attempted to watch America’s Newsroom from within my Chrome Browser - received no error but show never started - stopped it at 9:44
  • At 9:46 am dest I attempted to watch Leverage from my Apple TV 4k and got the spinning wheel for 15 or so seconds and then I was returned to the guide where I had selected the show to watch.

I’m running 3 HDHomeRun Primes (HDHR3-CC) with firmware 20180817

I also run Plex as a service using PMS as a service

When I back down to 5369 I am able to watch and record shows with no issue.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi all,

From the start Plex LiveTV had my attention. I first tried a 2nd hand hauppauge HVR which did work (slow) but the tuner died within a week. This week i bought a new Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD. After installing the tuner and adding it to Plex (which went as should) no stream came up. On iOS it keeps loading for like half a minute and then it shows an error “Niet mogelijk om afspeelverzoek te e…” - “Time-out van het verzoek.” - “Code: -1001”. And on Plex Web: “Afspeelfout” - “Niet mogelijk het kanaal af te stemmen” (Both in Dutch). It seems like i have the same issue as written about in this post.

I have tried a lot of different settings. When i turn off transcoding streams (not all) will show some really messed up image and produce beeps and noise.

To be sure my signal is ok, I installed WinTV 8.5. This is working a should and gives a really smooth image. After testing I un-installed WinTV and deleted and re-added the tuner to Plex. No difference, still only error messages.

My system:
AMD Athlon(t) II X4 640 Processor 3.00 GHz
4,00 GB RAM
64-bit Windows 10 Pro version 1803
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series
Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD (Model 1661xx-1, Dual DVB-T/T2/C, IR)
Plex Media Server version: 1.13.9.5439

The system is only used for Plex and I’m using DVB-T

On 20:58 I tried to watch a stream via Plex Web
On 21:03 I tried to watch a stream via iOS

Hope this will help fixing the problem.

I have tried.
I have invested, I believe in Plex since 2014. I have upgraded to use a NAS, a cheaper one but it works. When it comes to Plex LiveTV DVR, I tried so hard, it is not gonna be working for me. I first used an old iMac. It didnt work, I bought a brand new macMini just to try to use it for HDHomeRun 4 tuners. Nope, it does not run smooth, it buffs most of time, and errors after errors. I cannot even switch to a channel without worrying if it tunes. I do not know how others were able to get a normal TV watching experience like watching normal cable through Plex LiveTV. I switched from wifi5G to ethernet, I tried external harddrive, microSDcard, my new mini is an dual core i5. Speed and RAM are good, and i still do not understand how it cannot work. So today I am returning the macMini, because it was $500. I am going to sell the HDHomeRun. And Plex will just stay as my media library. Good try Plex, but it is so difficult with all the errors… it is not worth spending the time and money on it. IT DOES NOT WORK!

There appears to be a serious database corruption

Don’t know if it is repairable.

Please see these two support articles

Thanks for the logs

There are some similarities with the issue in 1.13.8 and 1.13.9 that was only seen on USB and PCIe tuners on windows. A timeout got reduced to 5 seconds and that has had an impact on USB and PCIe DVRs startup as they appear to be taking up to 10 seconds to start.

Your logs are the first I am seeing for HD Homerun where it does appear to be due to a 5 second timeout. Might need you to get me a wireshark capture to go with the logs for a failure - if you do that, please zip the pcap file and send it to me in a Private Message

Please start the wireshark capture before the recording / live tv starts

It is only through logs can a problem be identified.

Is that for a USB / PCIe tuner on windows ?

At this moment the issue with 1.13.8 is thought to be for USB / PCIe tuners only. I have just seen one possible same issue for HD Homerun but i would really like to see more examples to establish if the same issue affects HD Homerun as well for users

If you can upgrade and get me logs - that would be appreciated

Thanks and will do!! Just downloaded Wireshark but heading out to dinner and have a lot of recordings tonight. So I’ll do this tomorrow morning / afternoon depending on post processing of all of the recordings tonight lol.

Tried to repair like written in the support articles but unfortunatly that didn’t work. I deleted all files and then first added the tuners. Streams work really smooth now.

My problem seems to be solved, thanks a lot for your help!

Sorry I should have included - mine relates to a PCIe tuner.

My QuadHD has worked perfect since April. Last night I upgraded PMS to 5439 and I can’t get any channel to tune. It looks like it’s about to start streaming but dies at 13%.

I verified with the Hauppauge software that the tuner is working fine. Appears to be, yet another, transcoder issue.

i have upgraded to Version 1.13.9.5439. I get no live tv on apple tv client with HD homerun tuner. Works well on web client and iOS. Try to tune, wheel keeps spinning and then get transcoder error. I have tried the PMS on Shield and PMS on Macbook, same issue.

Please help…live tv was working a week ago!!

Could you upload the server logs zip with debug logging enabled please

Would like to see if it is a timeout because of the tuner taking a long time to tune
