Plex DVR, Trying to watch Live TV but get error "Unable to tune channel (no parts)"

The json outputs from the HDhomerun are attached

HDhomerun_json_files.zip (600 Bytes)

Thanks.

I have referred the problem to the development team. For some reason the tuner capture is not starting and then we report an error 30 seconds later.

There are similarities with what is in the logs from @Taddeusz on this forum topic DVR Stopping Recording After 30 Seconds

I have a pre-release beta build available for you to try. Not been able to reproduce the problem. Could you tell me which download package you use for the install?

Ubuntu 64 bit

I have the same problem with Windows and the problem only happens with HDhomerun quatro(my HDhomerun connect works perfectly) for what I can understand. (It’s been a problem for months now)

I’m also getting this issue from time to time. I’m running the latest beta version of Plex Media Server on Ubuntu 18.04LTS with 3 x WinTV DuoHD receivers. It definitely is a little bit of a pain, especially when it opens a Tuner even after its shown the error occurred.

Same issue here. As soon as I click on a Live channel, I see a message ‘Recording Live TV - Session’ on the Plex server and ‘Unable to tune channel’

How do I got about getting the pre-release beta to test for ubuntu 64 bit?

It has now been released as Plex Media Server Beta 1.13.8.5388

See https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/

Same issue confirmed for me tonight. Win10, usb hauppauge dual tuner (plex supported). Latest version of PMS.

Same error. Restart server. Works for first channel, then switch channels it fails. Also it wouldn’t play HD channels by default so removed the SD channels, now error comes up straight away.

I updated, and I still cannot tune channels, didn’t have a chance to grab logs I will try to tonight.

could you see if it is as stated by @xf84 that the first tune is ok but subsequent ones fail

Would like logs of the failures on 1.13.8.5388 preferably after tried a restart of the server and a clean start

I will get logs as you stated hopefully tonight,

To give you more info:

  1. I updated the server and restarted the server

2.tried to tune a channel on the nvidia shield through plex, wouldn’t tune

  1. tried to tune a channel on my PC (different pc from PMS but on the same local network), and I was able to tune a channel.

  2. I tried to change the channel on the same PC and i wouldn’t change

  3. Tried tuning again on nvidia shield still wouldn’t tune

  4. Tried tuning a channel on my iphone, still wouldnt tune.

Again I will restart the PMS later and try to tune and message you with the logs.

Thanks - when doing the tests please note down the times for each and as you are getting different outcomes from different client apps please separate the tests and have a server restart between each client app tests and please also try to get logs from the apps as well

Can you tell me what the the filepath is on android tv for the plex app logs? I can ftp into the shield and grab the logs pretty easily from the shield.

I can tell you the path for the Plex Media Server logs if it was running on the nVidia Shield. But for the Plex client app on the nVidia Shield - it is network logging, enabled in advance via settings and then obtained through a browser via endpoint :32500/logging and all displayed text selected and copied to a text file

See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/

I sent you logs in the message you sent me a few days ago, i have logs from the PMS and also from the nvidia shield client app.

Any updates?

It was in my backlog - looking at the logs now

The symptom and errors in the log are the same in version 1.13.8.5388 as was seen in your previous logs. I have already referred this to the development team
