Yes and yes please.

done

let me have debug logs of tuning v661 with 1.15.8.1156 regardless of outcome

Thanks

So far so good

Just a heads up that I’m also seeing some issues with slow tuning on the Roku. It doesn’t seem as bad on the Shield (they’re both doing direct-play). With the Roku, the process is similar to this:

  1. Click play.
  2. The circle rotates with no numbers for 3-5 seconds.
  3. The numbers start climbing, and there’s a wait of 6-8 seconds.
  4. It plays fine afterward.

This is mainly an FYI since I noticed a few others talking about slow playback in Roku, and I didn’t bring it up prior to this.

@Cafe_Diem are you stating slow for live TV or slow for loading video files?

Just Live TV. Regular videos start with the fairly normal level of delay (1-3 seconds give or take).

Edit: Also, I’ve seen the same behavior on both wifi and ethernet connects. Forgot to say that.

May be it is similar to the issue seen from evidence from @spacehound which I have now split off as a new issue here DVR - starting Live TV on roku takes 15 seconds to start or fails

Would need logs for this delay to see what it is

Happy to PM you some logs later. I’ll tune a bunch of channels, and will make sure it’s still reproducible, then will grab logs.

Update

Working with user @z-squared over last 24 hours, I can confirm now that the second issue of tuning timeouts caused by transcoder error logging - seen on linux - is now also resolved

The fix will be in 1.16.0.x which is currently in QA Alpha Testing

Plex Media Server Beta 1.16.0.1220-147963d87 has just been released with the fixes for the tuning timeouts for livetv and recordings

See release note Plex Media Server

  • (HTTP) Addressed network efficiency issues which could lead to slow Live TV tunes (#10151)
  • (HTTP) Responses to requests on keep-alive connections could be delayed, potentially resulting in slow transcoder startups (#10118)
  • (Live TV) The transcoder could take a very long time to start on streams from certain broadcasters or service providers (#10065)

Initial results: ALL of my channels work, and playback is much snappier.

Fantastic work, you guys. This makes me so happy I went with a lifetime pass

I am now using this beta build as well, and it appears to be working better as well!!! Crossing my fingers that this issue is finally taken care of. I have bounced around my normal channels that frequently give me the unable to tune channel error, and so far all are streaming great!
I will report back if anything changes.

Thanks!
