Plex edition tags no longer automatically adding edition

Server Version#: Version 1.40.2.8312
Player Version#: n/a

My plex server seems to not add editions to my files anymore. It used to work but lately I have had to make changes to my metadata and server settings due to weird behavior (likely corruption). After finally having some server stabillity, I found that editions were missing from my files. I tried:

  • Rescanning file/library
  • Analyzing file/library
  • Refreshing Metadata file/library
  • Changing library settings

I have Plex pass, and I followed the correct naming format, for example:
“The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug (2013) {imdb-tt1170358} {edition-Extended Edition} [Bluray-1080p][AAC 2.0][x265]”

This used to work in the past, and if I manually edit a file I can set the edition manually (not ideal).

Could this be a corruption in my DB or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks!

This should be rather [Bluray-1080p AAC 2.0 x265], because only the first pair of square brackets is ignored.

Do you store each movie and each edition in its own folder? You should.

If you have already experimented with several file name versions, try the old Plex Dance.

I will give those a try. I was able to get it somewhat working by manually adding a random edition, then renaming the file and rescanning again. I think it may be an issue with my Db or something. The plex dance might just be what I need to do afterall
