Server Version#: 1.41.3.9232
Running on a Synology with DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 2
Since the update to the latest beta version of Plex I seem to have an issue with editions of my movies. For me before it worked as far as I can see (I have redone my server from scrap some weeks ago)
So my names are generally like this:
Underworld (2003) {edition-Extended Edition} - 2160p
I also tried now this:
Underworld (2003) {edition-Extended Edition}
Underworld (2003) - 2160p {edition-Extended Edition}
Thanks for the info
Somehow I missed this entry
I looked around and didn’t saw this one
I saw also just a new release where it should be fixed - so I gonna check it now
Maybe you know how I can get the info from the movies already in the database? New movies works well with the new update but older… .I recaned the library, updated metadata, analyzed the movie but it doesn’t reload that info - mabe it’s simply not possible
My understand from the post I linked above is that any movie with an edition tag which was added to your library during the time when this bug was present will need to have the Plex Dance performed on it (click the Plex Dance text for the procedure).
I am having the same problem on my QNAP NAS. I have three editions of Terminator Salvation (commentary, director’s cut, and theatrical) and all that is displayed is “Terminator Salvation” without any edition names.
Hello
I Just updated to Plex Media Server 1.41.4.9463 on Windows and the edition (from folder name) is still not working: If I scan a new movie the edition is not recognized from the folder name where the movie is scanned. Please note that on older versions it was working perfectly with the same folder name.
Hope this can be fixed …
Thanks
Thanks for the quick reply
I did the “Plex Dance” thing but it doesn’t seem to work as expected.
Probably there is another problem as after the first scan of the library the movie is not immediately removed (even if the movie folder has been placed out of the library’s scan path)
In the first minute after the scan the movie is still visible in the library but is not even shown as “UNAVAILABLE” even if of course the movie is not playable anymore.
If I rescan the library or wait a couple of minutes the “UNAVAILABLE” flag is shown on the movie but the movie is still not deleted from the library
What can we do to also have the library properly deleting missing movies first ?
Should I also do “Optimize database” ?
Please note that with previous versions of PMS (I mean before the issue with “edition” tag the movies were also properly deleted form the library after a scan (and my folder naming convention properly recognized as well)
Hello
I could do some further testing and finally could find a way to make it work with 1.41.4.9463
But I think I have discovered an unexpected behavior (bug?) doing the suggested “Plex Dance” approach with this version
To make it work the solution is :
Delete the scanning root folder path from the library
Empty Trash from the server
Add the scanning root folder path from the library
Wait for the automatically triggered scan to complete
And VOILA! all the rescanned media titles are showing the correct “EDITION” tag again (automatically retrieved from the file/folder’s name naming structure
The unexpected behavior (bug?) doing the “Plex Dance” approach with this version is :
Moving a specific media folder outside of the library scanning root folder doesn’t add the media title into the library’s trash.
As a result any further step of the “plex dance” approach doesn’t have any effect because the media title is still considered as part of the library and will simply be shown as “UNAVAILABLE” but is never added to the library 's trash even after several manual library scan attempts
So currently the only way forward we have seems to fully rebuild the library as explained in the “to make it work” section
Thanks for the help anyway
Let’s hope that Plex will fix this unexpected behavior (bug?) with the addition to the trash soon !
