Server Version#: 4.143.0
Player Version#: All
I’ve migrated my Plex server from a Synology DS918+ to a Beelink EQ12 > Ubuntu > portainer. The media files are still hosted on the Synology, and NFS links are set up correctly and for the most part work fine.
However, some files don’t play properly; they play fine locally, on my TV and the plex app for windows, but on the same computer I get an error (Conversion Failed. The transcoder exited due to an error) playing that file from the web browser. I didn’t think too much of it because the browser players aren’t great anyway, but when I asked my remote users to try out the same episode, they get errors on it also (Playback has stopped due to multiple playback errors. Please check your connection and try again; I think someone also said they got the transcode error).
Most files play fine, it happens on seemingly random things, some new shows, some stuff I’ve had for a long time, different encode types. And I know that many of these problem files worked fine before the server migration and as I said they still work locally with no issues except on the browser client.
I’ve done the plex dance, tried different browsers, asked remote users to make sure they had direct play on, disabled subtitles, it never works, same error. I’ve checked my transcoding settings in plex, they seem correct.
I’m not very knowledgeable about portainer, so it’s possible there’s a problem there but I can’t find it. Is it also possible this could be some kind of odd Synology thing, where it doesn’t like the new Beelink computer accessing certain random files? Doesn’t make sense but I can’t think of anything else.
Any ideas anyone?
