Plex fails to start after Synology DSM 6.2-23739 Update 2

Here is what I found in the synopkg.log

I checked and confirmed that /lib32/libstdc++.so.6 does indeed exist so I’m not sure what to make of the ‘no version information available’ error.

NO need to try to analyze further.

I’m writing the Announcement post for everyone now.

  1. It’s all due to DSM 6.2 Update 2 removing 32 bit support for Dynamically loaded applications on 64 bit processors -AND-
  2. PMS 32 bit having been downloaded from Package Center.

Resolution:

Download 64 bit PMS from plex.tv/downloads (uninstall the 32 bit package first)

Thanks!

Any idea what directories I should be backing up to keep my library/metadata etc? I’d like to lose as little info as possible.

Edit: Nevermind I’m just backing up /volume1/Plex/ which is about 40GB and seems to contain my Library and metadata

You can stop backing it up.

Nothing gets deleted. (I wrote the installer)

The application software is stored separately from the Plex share.

Just uninstall the binaries and reinstall the 64 bit version.

Uninstalling 32bit and Installing 64bit worked for me too! Thanks!

Thanks Chuck that worked perfectly!

I got a (definitely a silly) question. I am using DS1817+ at home and when I go to the Plex site to download, I get three options under Synology. ARM and Intel. Which one should I go for?

When unclear, here is their master document:

64-bit X86-64 DSM 6.0 +

The DS1817+ has:

DS1817+ Intel Atom C2538 Quad Core 4 Yes Avoton DDR3 2/8 GB

Which is a 64-bit Intel

ChuckPA is the MAN with an action plan! Thank you! Quick uninstall, and install and bada-bing bada-boom Plex is up and running. Once again thank you!

You’re welcome, bitteschön

so happy I remembered to check the Plex forums on this, quickly did the uninstall, reinstalled the 64 bit version, everything is golden.

Thanks Chuck

Drove me crazy, uninstalled x86 package, installed x86_64, runs like a charm, no data lost, everything back to normal  Thanks @ChuckPa

I did something stupid… I was afraid about uninstalling Plex and loosing my data. So I just updated it directly with the 64 version (x86_64)… and it worked!!! Didn’t have to uninstall Plex.
I have a DS1815+.

Did it for me! DS415 working again!

Hey Chuck,

I had the same issue, jumped on here and saw your post. I uninstalled the 32 and installed the 64. Did a reboot and I still can not get the Plex to work again. It says its running but I can not connect. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Will

Hey Trumpy,

I stopped the service and opened the File Station and navigated to the Plex folder and there is nothing in the folder at all, but the service was running.

Thanks Trumpy, you the man!

I guess I just need to remember that RIF (Reading is fundamental). The Q7 answered the issue found the xml file and deleted launch and after a time of searching and configuring the library, Im all back good as new.

Thank you very much,
Will
