After I enabled access to local storage it seemed to work fine. Did this in android app manager under configure Plex app. Rebooted box and it started working.
I had the same situation of crashing on Android Streaming box. I could run Plex inside of kodi and everything would play fine. However, when I tried to play within the android plex app (didnāt matter what version i had), it would always crash here and there. Then I found out plex was not able to access my storage. Thus, it had very limited space to operate. Below is my fix.
This is within android OS and not within the plex program.
Settings -> app -> scroll down to plex -> scroll down to āPermissionsā -> Make sure storage is checked to on.
This will allow your plex software to access your storage within your TV box.
