Server Version#: 1.25.1.5286
Player Version#: 5.01
App version appears to be 5.0.1
In settings->about it says
Plex for LG - 3.13.29
Netcast - 0
Plex for LG app appears to no longer be able to sign in to Plex., Last successful use was Wednesday 7th at 22.36 CET.
Everything works fine on all other devices.
I’ve tried insecure connections etc, the issues doesn’t seem to be conecting to server, but to Plex. Changing settings does not save them. It is not possible to sign in.
I updated the OP with additional information. Suggested solution does not work, i had no issues up to last night, no changes had been made, only change today was a server update AFTER the failed connection, with no change in behaviour. Sign in does nothing but return to the ‘Plex is not reachable.’ page. Same with the ‘Go home’ button
Do you experience the same with secure connections disabled on your server?
All Netcast devices are impacted by this issue (unless LG provides updates certificates for secure connections).
Yes, the same with disabled, the plex app does not touch the server, no connection attempt is made, it fails to connect to plex and settings are not saved.
1st, adding the IP of my TV to the List of IP’s, which do not need Authentication.
Adding the IP into the Plex App and Fall back to insecure connections…
Nothing happens, only that the Settings are reverted, when hitting on retry.
But then I did some magic trick, did all the settings again and switched over to german language… and… well, it’s connected!
But… you have to do it every time! Settings will be reverted to original values after closing the app

Seems to be that issue again! Sorry for mentioning you.
Hi. I can’t understand why the notice is from September and it’s just now that the app shows this behavior. I also can’t understand why it’s a security question when LG clients, and my PMS are within my local network- No solution is provided except investing in compatible devices
"We discovered that an endpoint that this app uses was returning an error that was causing the app to be unable to connect to our services, we’ve since corrected that and the app is able to connect once again."
Ok, are we talking about the same problem?- You are looking for a solution to solve it?-It is desperate to have paid free subscription and not be able to use a newly purchased service
Did you read the announcement? It touches on that.
It is because of the way Plex works and the authentications it does. Plex is not a brainless DLNA solution. And the TV manufacturers have decided to end support for the TV’s listed when it comes to security. Your target is the TV companies, not Plex.
The solution of investing in compatible devices is just that, a solution. And unless you have some ability to get the TV manufacturers to budge and continue to properly support their sets it is unlikely that any other solution will be reached.
Because LG wants you to buy a new TV. Most people won’t think to buy something like an Nvidia Shield or Chromecast and LG can sell them a new TV. It’s really pretty brilliant of them, because they screw you and instead of getting mad at them, people get mad at Plex like they have any power over what the manufacturers do.
It doesn’t seem that your answers bring any value. We all know that manufacturers need to sell more, but I doubt that they use the problem with the cert that we are discussing in this thread. On the other hand, I obviously read the “as of September 30” notice, and I insist that no response adds value to this issue.
Respectfully, I don’t think you were able to comprehend what I was saying. LG and all the other manufacturers are absolutely involved in the planned obsolescence plan. The cert issue is just an example of that. Clearly, you didn’t read the notice because the notice clearly explains that this issue may not show immediately, and may take a little time to manifest. When it does you can try the steps listed and they may or may not alleviate the issue. Now, you can take the passive-aggressive attitude elsewhere.
Plex lifetime user here and I have exactly the same Plex version as OP, and the Plex app on my LG TV refused connecting to my Plex Media Server also exactly on Wednesday 7th of December.
The secure connections that is being referred to would have taken effect 30th of September. Between the 30th of September and the 7th of December, I have been able to enjoy streaming Plex through this exact LG TV without changing any settings.
Now, trying to allow insecure connections for the PLEX LG TV app, I am also unable to persist the changes to “Always” allow insecure connections and unfortunately, the language setting trick as you described doesn’t fix it for me.
You’ve also added the IP of the TV to your Plex Server for not needing to be signed in?
And specified the server in the app too, before you change the language?
Both my Plex TV and my Synology Diskstation hosting my Plex Media server have a reserved DHCP IP address, which I’ve double checked before entering. Switch language to German (tried others as well) and clicked the equivalent “Retry” button. It reverts back to English and I’m stuck at the “Plex not reachable” screen again …
