Plex for Windows Downloading

Trying to download a few of my on deck shows to my Surface Go for offline viewing. However, when I select a show that I am watching S02 of it downloads S01. I tried selecting next, latest, and even all in hopes it would grab S02, however it only worked when I selected all, however I don’t want 30 episodes on the machine I only wanted five.

EDIT: Decided to delete and start fresh after closing the program. I added another show that I have four unwatched episodes in. It then downloaded The already watched special and the first four episodes of the series. Then I added another show that is currently airing. I am expecting this to work like the mobile sync and grab the new unwatched episodes when they become available, UT instead it downloaded the first five episodes of S01. Not sure if I am crazy, but I think I am checking the proper settings.

Hi @curlz620, ick, that’s a poor first impression of the download engine. :frowning:

We’re investigating currently to fix asap.

I currently dont even see a download option at all. No setting to enable downloads of any kind. It’s simply not there, also on a surface go too.

Its the download icon on the top right of anything outside of a Playlist.

Please do. I was so excited to see this drop. Been using the UWP app forever and even though it uses less resources so its a bit faster sync was total garbage. Really hoping this comes close to android since that sync has been great.

It’s just not there for me. On a single EP options i have Play > Shuffle > Add To Playlist > Mark As Played > Edit > More…

No download options. I thought it might be hidden due to the UI scaling fail, but nope, its not there at all.

Should be up here. Sounds lame, but I accidently opened PMP after installing, make sure your on Plex for Windows?

Yup, that is def. NOT there for me and I am DEF using the new plex app.

Not sure. Showing up on three different devices for me. You have a plex pass? Also assuming its your server signed in with a plex pass account?

Downloading from PMS requires the server be >= v1.16.3 and the server is signed in as a user with an active Plex Pass subscription.

I’m guessing it’s a server version thing.

Also, just a reminder to anyone reading that we’re also actively looking at download behavior for seasons/shows. There’s something smelly happening.

I believe my server is the problem and requires and upgrade. I’d teamview into the damn thing, but teamviewer now things Im running in a commercial environment for some reason, yay. I’m guessing its a server issue and will update when I can. Thanks plex and plex community for the help.

Another related issue, it appears when I selected next five it is now downloading 11 out of 8 for a show. Not sure whats going on.

Also the edit and delete icons are basically impossible to select with a touch screen device.

Same. We had a lot of eyes on our pre-release builds but, gah, something as fundamental as this went undiscovered. I’m hoping we get 1.1 out early next week.

Touch will definitely be YMMV. There are a lot interactions in the app that rely on hover.

Have uninstalled Windows PMP and installed new Desktop AF. The window doesn’t open maximised.

As in, you exited the app while it was maximized and want it to open maximized next time it’s run?

I can confirm on macOS if I quit the app while it’s in full screen mode that, on next run, the app is restored to full screen dimensions but not full screen state. Will file an issue to investigate.

You guys really have to know that laptops with touch screens, convertibles and windows tablets are a thing and will continue to be?

I fully understand that touch UI/UX <> mouse keyboard UI/UX, which is why there is often dedicated interfaces to each.

Touch is not going away.

Next will be AIR GESTURE user experiences (especially, but not limited to, in automotive).

(not to mention, the already expanding VOICE ux such as alexa/google/siri).

Of course, we’re moderately adept. I think it’s reasonable to suggest that full touch support on Desktop applications is unique to demand. We’re only a few humans that can’t meet every expectation.

I’d be happy if we improved touch support in response to user requests and adequate adoption potential.

I understand (heck microsoft still hasn’t perfectly solved the windows touch ui), but continuing to rely on hover mechanics makes it that much more difficult for both dev and users.

For example, plex web on a (touch only) tablet.

Yep, exactly.

As you described with macOS is same with Windows version.

Yeah. Adding a persistent icon in the download section would be so helpful.
