Until Plex and MS fix the issue it will never be resolved, Plex devs do not respond to this forum anymore so it’s almost pointless to bring it up. Everyone who can fix the issue is aware of it, no one cares enough to work on it
They both have been going back and fourth on this issue for a year at least. Both Plex and MS know of the issue and can reproduce it. Yet the issue never gets fixed
The Plex app on the Xbox One has unfortunately been garbage for me ever since they gave up on the nice clean old app that used to just work. I miss the old skip back/ahead instead of this horrible fast forward that half the time if you do it “too quick” will just crash the stream and stop it enitrely. Sometimes the app just randomly will close out like it has crashed when I stop a show.
I’ve had buffering issues for what seems like forever on it as well, despite having wireless AC everything and the Plex server not being taxed. It is especially bad and sometimes I can’t even get it to continue a show with subtitles turned on with burn in, it just hangs on buffering forever even though there’s barely anything happening on the server itself.
It’s def. getting worse and not better. I can’t even resume 1080p content any more. I just get the indefinite buffering… if I restart playback from the beginning it works but I can’t skip ahead to the point I left without getting the indefinite buffering again. Duh. So if we for some reason can’t finish watching something, we have to jump out to Kodi to skip to the place where we stopped watching in Plex.
I think the only hope at this point is maybe the Series X fixes the issue just by hardware difference alone. On the software side this issue will never get fixed
