So, whose incompetence is cause of the issue ? Microsoft or Plex ?
Also, trying to enumerate possible workarounds to this issue …
Would getting on the XBox insider / beta program solve this problem ?

*MS and Plex are blaming each other, in the meantime the issue is not getting fixed and will probably never be fixed, we’ve been seeing this problem on and off for 2 years now
*No workarounds are possible, only thing you can do is get another piece of hardware as your plex client like Shield,Roku 4k , vero 4k+ etc. I got a Vero 4k box and it works perfectly with 4k HDR where my Xbox one X buffers randomly
- This issue impacts insider Xbox builds as well I’m on Alpha and have had this issue a LONG time
*Kodi on Xbox is said to work well but you will not get true 4k HDR out of the the Xbox version of Kodi using the plex add on - No way to fix this is you have the issue other than buying a different piece of hardware to act as your plex client.
I just discovered my Samdung TV has a native Plex app that streams high bit rate 1080 flicks flawlessly in the same spot that the Xbox would not. Before I realized it had an app, I had to transcode down to less than 1mbps to watch something.
Still the same issue here. Ok for full HD movies but as soon as it is a 4k we have a big buffering issue.
I checked on the server and I can see that for fhd movies the bandwidth is up to 20 mbps when for 4k it is less than 1mbps. I am on a 1gbps lan connexion.
When I switch on the plex app on my tv (Philips android tv) it is correctly upper than 20mbps and not any buffering issue then.
So plex support, why do you have this issue and WHEN will you fix it? You don’t need any sample file as it happens for all 4k movies on xbox one!
I’m sure they prefer the extra data points they get from this, especially when folks like myself disable the “anonymous” data collection from users.
It’s really annoying - every 15 minutes video stops and buffering. please fix it.

Bump for unresolved problems.
This is still a broken application on the Xbox one X. Buffering every 5 mins indefinitely until the stream is restarted and completely out of sync audio/video is a constant issue.
All other clients to include my LG TV, firestick and an external user outside my network using an LG TV (limited to 720p) have absolutely no issues. The content is clearly not an issue and the server is perfectly adequate as the other devices just work.
Noticable ‘lag’ when navigating the sliding Xbox pane too.
The app needs a serious look at by the development team I’d suggest - no idea if forum comments are even picked up by them, but this is my experience so far at the least.
I refuse to spend more money than I’ve already spent between the console, the subscription and server hardware. Buying another device for playback only enables them to kick the can further down the road.
I think I’m gonna read over the ToS and see of there’s any recourse for abandoning this without saying as much. If they’ve no intention of supporting Plex on Xbox, they need to come out and say it, but to abandon it and leave folks in this position is terrible business acumen.
If that is their route, I too will abandon Plex and switch to Emby. it does everything Plex does, but it **actually ** works.

Yes it has been fixed before, around spring time it was fixed and 4k hdr played fine with no buffering then in late summer it broke again and here we are.
97 pages so far and for what, no acknowledgment of their broken client?
Nice to see I’m not only one experiencing the issue on an Xbox One S on the LAN. Hope someone can cross post or raise the horn for a mod to check in…?
