No news to share. The devs are still working on the issue. You should be able to get sound again by force stopping the app then reloading, at least until the next time the Shield goes to sleep.

Same issue here, every other sound source, movies, YouTube etc seem to work just fine, playing music in various formats results in no sound output until a restart which restores sound. On latest plex and shield updates.
Same here. Happens with Kodi too.
I raised this issue in the smart TV section of the forum 3 months ago.
I am able to consistently replicate this either on the shield or android TV.
If I play audio and the TV goes to standby when I wake the TV all audio is muted, video (and the audio in the video) is unaffected.
The only way I can get it working is to force close the app and reload.
Sorry, everyone we still donāt have a solution yet. To provide some background, this issue is a result of a change we made to the music player that fixed an issue that was causing distortion on various devices. The fix for that has resulted in this issue. The devs are trying various things but so far one fix brakes the other. They hope to find a solution soon.

Same issue on my Shield.
Too many issues on Plex for Shield TV, I decided to move to Plex on my Synology DS218+ NAS and things have been much better since, with this issue not there and media playing literally instantaneously on DirectPlay (all my stuff so far), compared to slow load and frequent crash/slowness accessin stuff from NAS.
Same issue here as of late.

I post these here, because this is the oldest topic about this problem. Maybe these threads should me merged?
In the meantime, any progress? Iām a developer (with 35 years of experience) and I cannot believe it takes this long to solve an issueā¦

I have had the same issues. All Plex applications are up to date.
There is something worthy of mention though, there must be something getting transmitted through the HDMI as when I hook it up to a Philips Hue Sync box the lights sync to the beat of a track. I initially thought that the Sync box was causing the issue having read the comments I can now confirm it wasnāt and trying different set ups including hooking direct up to my TV without HDMI ARC connected just incase it is a signalling issue. Nothing seems to work and everything is reproducable.
Iām no developer but I have had something like this happen before and it turned out to be when the system slept, the software and the hardware became disjointed, and no longer communicated properly but looked like it was.
It may help find a solution
Same issue. For me it only happens with audio from my music library. I have to force close the application and then audio resumes working for the music library. Other libraries are not affected by this.
Same issue for me with no sound from music files after waking from sleep in plex app. Although Iām running the Sasktel max stream android tv box. Not sure what hardware is under the hood with that box but is definitely the same issue as the nvidia shield that everyone else is having on this forum. Hoping for a fix soon as I have some family using this system and this is their first experience with plex!
