Plex + HDHomeRun - Can't record one specific channel but I can tune to it no problem and also watch this channel on other tuners too

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457 (Windows 10)
Player Version#: Latest Android TV (Nvidia Shield)
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun Connect Quatro
Guide/Lineup name: Broadcast TV - Canada Windsor OTA Broadcast
Using XMLTV?: No
Channel number/Name: 62.1

So far the only channel I seem to be having issues with is 62.1. I can’t record this channel as it says “Please check your tuner or antenna”. However, if I try to tune to 62.1 to watch it live I can watch it no problem. Also other TVs in the house can tune it directly with the TV tuner no problem as well.

What are my options here? I’ve considered putting another tuner in my PMS (Can I use multiple tuners with PMS?). I’d rather fix this issue though if I can as I don’t believe it to be my HDHomeRun.

This is suspiciously familiar:

Another quirk with HDHR tuners - there IS such a thing as “Too Strong”.
If the signal for this station is a solid 100% - that could be a possibility.

Huh, oddly enough I’ve had this same problem with ION 38.1 here in Chicago. Would try to tune into this channel and it would automatically ask to watch the feed that was an hour in progress. It would assume that it was already being watched but if I did try to tune in, it would just give me an error or just attempt to give me the current live feed. Its the one and only channel that does this. Glad it is happening elsewhere and can be associated with a cause. Would it matter if I replaced my older HDHR EXTEND (plastic casing with no heat sink) for the newer model?

If you had one laying around not doing anything you could try it.
As for throwing money blindly in the hopes it’ll pay off - isn’t that called Gambling?

I would take this to the already open thread and wait for something new to turn up - which might be you with another data point to consider.

or take a look at HDHR Forums, where there are about a million posts (or where until they got deleted) - about strong signals overwhelming HDHR tuners.

I don’t know why, but I’m leaning toward an issue with this one particular channel.
Sub-Channels are, basically, run by Interns.
Hard to say what’s going on at this point.

In order to step on a bug - you first have to locate it. You might be able to help the other folks in the linked thread get it cornered.

Very few of my stations show a signal strength of 100, and ION 33.1 isn’t one of them, as the first post in that thread shows. My main issue is the new LTE band 71 interference from the auctioned off 600 MHz spectrum. I now have a T-Mobile tower a few blocks away blasting away on band 71.

Speaking of HDHR tuners, there is a firmware update available, that doesn’t help this issue however. Firmware Changelog - SiliconDust

YOU MISSED!

That filter is useless, as it doesn’t cover 600 MHz, or even 700 MHz. I’m using TWO of these with excellent results:

Oh… being difficult, eh?

Deploy a few of these at the base of that tower:

Similar to my setup in the attic

If I thought I could get away with it…

Yea, probably too extreme.

You could call up whoever owns that monstrosity and tell 'em it’s making your life miserable. They could ignore you, or send some engineers over there to see if they clean up their act in some way.

I love this antenna, it is awesome when you want to aim at two different sets of TV towers spaced far apart.

Unfortunately that antenna ‘May’ be the issue - or make it worse. Here’s why:

Everything on that (any) antenna can be part of the ‘antenna’ at certain frequencies.
When you’re working in an area where something undesirable is melting the fillings in your teeth - it can be painful - and it can resonate harmonics right through the reflectors/mounting hardware/etc.

A different ‘type’ of antenna - a Yagi type, for instance, may react differently in an area under attack - like your area.

Unfortunately it’s a ‘Trial and Error’ thing.
Amazon’s return policy is bulletproof.

It is, as I’ve already returned a Yagi/Log Periodic (Yagi stacked in front of the Log Periodic) antenna I tried that had less than desirable results. I’ve also tried a UHF only Yagi antenna.
This (bow-tie with reflector) antenna is working the best of anything I’ve tried.

The filters seem to be taking care of the band 71 issue.

Well, that’s exactly the way to tackle this thing - you did it and it’s paying off.

I’m a (retired) professional and that’s what I would have done.
