Plex is supported by the preview of DSM7?

Yes, all the usual “this is beta” warnings should be heeded. However, DSM has become pretty dependent on Docker over the last couple of years. I’d be surprised if Docker wasn’t working on DSM 7.0. I can’t say not having installed it, but there are at least some reports of other apps working on DSM 7.0 via Docker installs. And release notes include an updated version of docker for DSM 7

I don’t mean to be rude but this is the Plex forum, not the Docker or Synology forum.

I am leaving this thread.
I’ve expressed, multiple times, the current state and when to expect something.

For crying out loud… I haven’t had a moment’s peace since PREVIEW was launched.
People ignored the warnings and got burned – NOT MY FAULT.

How about I be left alone long enough to do the package?

Thanks,
Have a nice weekend.

Hey Chuck. If you didn’t get an invitation to the DSM 7 Preview, you can still do a manual install. Here are the download links for all devices compatible with DSM 7.

Moderator: Link Removed

WARNING TO OTHERS: PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL DSM 7 PREVIEW AS PLEX WILL NOT CURRENTLY WORK WITH IT. IT’S ALSO A PREVIEW/ALPHA BUILD.

I was reading the first few posts and noticed he was asking about how to access DSM 7. So I provided a link for him. Those download links are not pirated software or against any rules. They’re direct links from Synology.

You should improve your manners. Incredibly rude response to a comment I made in an attempt to help someone out.

Really? You insult me personally, which is against the rules here, and when I mention it, you threaten to silence me for 2 weeks, admitting that you’re intentionally being rude by doing it? Knock yourself out man. I didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t even dispute your reason for removing the links. But you continue to insult me personally, and threaten me. Great work.

The “new” documentation for the community packages of DSM 7 Preview is not yet public. Therefore it does not help if ChuckPa installs this preview. The documentation for the community packages will not be available until 7.0 Beta.

DSM 7 preview is “pre-beta”, You can call that “alpha”. Synology warns against installing this on anything other than a test machine or VM, as there is no "roll-back to v6.x without factory reset.

Additionally, all 3rd-party packages are dysfunctional at this state. You may get Plex to work via Docker if supported by your hardware. Even so, it will be dodgy.

I’m told RC won’t happen until 2021. And probably not then as the “preview” is already a year (plus) late.

You’re making a lot of assumptions here. You’re right that I did not read all 62 posts before replying. And had I read all 62 posts, I would have seen that there would be no need for my post. Everything else you said is just an assumption on your part, and it is wrong.

You said that I responded to him as if to insult him. Are you kidding? I specifically responded to him because he’s a team member in an attempt to help him. Again - based on not reading all 62 posts before replying to him.

Even in that message, knowing the issue with the preview, I wrote in ALL CAPS that others should not install the preview because it’s an alpha and Plex won’t work on it.

You could have simply deleted the post, which would have been better than you attacking me personally. You could have taken 2 seconds to write a shorter message stating that links shouldn’t be shared or that it’s not helpful information because it could inadvertently lead to people installing the preview which you want to avoid, so the link was removed.

But no. You assumed motive, attacked me for it, then doubled down on it by threatening to silence me, and now tripled down on it by saying you could have banned me. All because you made an assumption and decided to be rude, when my intention was nothing but to be helpful to someone specifically because they were a team member.

It’s fair and obvious to say at this point that I really don’t like you much. You’re unnecessarily rude and are constantly threatening me for nothing and to the benefit of no one because you refuse to accept that my only mistake was not reading every post in this thread before replying.

Add “sudo” at the begining at it will work !

I’m closing this thread. It’s already been said that Plex is not currently compatible with DSM 7. No more discussions needed here. Once PMS can support DSM 7, additional discussions can be had then regarding bugs and fixes.
