Plex Just Ruined Their Roku App

Im not interested in bitching and moaning. Do we have any options? I have 4000 movies and 4T B of TV and this new update doesn’t let me acces any of it. Is KODi worth trying? Im done with Plex as of now. Theres a reason I have my own server. They’re my files Plex was just a front end.

Kodi is the OG, it’s where plex came from. Back in the day Kodi was called XBMC, or Xbox media center. It was developed to run on a hacked 1st gen Xbox. Plex was a fork of xbmc made to run on Mac, it was called osxbmc.

Fast forward to today and we have seen many forks come and go. XBMC rebranded to Kodi but they’re still going.

Now is it better? Maybe. They don’t have apps like Plex so you need third party ones. They also don’t have remote streaming. If you want ultimate customization and only care about local streaming then sure, it’s worth the time to set up. Otherwise go look at Emby and Jellyfin.

Agreed. This is like Microsoft releasing Vista. Unhappy over here!

That is very funny…

Was that all over the start menu?

Hello. I believe there is an issue with the new update. I am deaf and have deaf children. Non of the subtitles are working for our movies for movie night tonight. Please help, thank you!

If the menus are the same as the ATV, bottom left or right should correct that issue while playing the show.

NAS or desktop install?

probably AI geneted. Direction…dont use yours use ours :frowning: What’s really upsetting is my roku never even asked if I wanted to update. Even andrloid allows you to turn off auto update. Lame asf

Vista just felt way different than it’s predecessor,XP with a lot of unwelcomed changes and overall user experience. At the time there weren’t many touch screens in the general population and Vista had that “Get a touch screen”vibe

YES! Please roll it back. I can’t actually play anything in any of my specialty libraries. It just won’t play at all - regardless of file quality. Using a remote control for Plex is super hard and it isn’t as fast or as useful as they might have imagined it to be. It’s almost like they hate their users. It takes far more clicks to do anything and IT IS NOT FUNCTIONAL. Not at all. PLEASE roll it back!

Log onto the PMS server. Hit the wrench and it is below the Accounts part.

Turn them all off. It didnt work for me so you can try too.

Minimum of NINE F’ING CLICKS just to get to the list of movies on my server!!! I said earlier that this was as bad as Microsoft Bob. For those that aren’t old enough to remember, that was the version of windows that barely lasted 9 months before being replaced by Win95 and is ranked #5 by PC Magazine for the worst software releases of all time - The 20 Biggest Software Flops of All Time | PCMag. I have to retract that statement. This is definitely worse.

Let me guess. You’re trying to get to, say a list of movies. Here’s how stupid this interface is. On mine, when I open Plex it starts me in “Continue Watching”. Up arrow to “home”. Right arrow to “Libraries”. Down arrow to library list. DO NOT click on a library. Right arrow to “…”. Select your “library”. NOW you can left click over to “Recommended” and down arrow to “Browse” and click OK. MINIMUM NINE F’ING CLICKS!!! In the past, it was about 3.

At least give us the OPTION to use the previous version, yeah? Some kind of concession here would be nice, considering the majority of feedback on this rollout is negatively received.

I had that same problem. I built a new video server last weekend. Plex Server could not initialize because it kept trying to log into the old server. I originally followed the info on Plex to move my registry settings to my new server. I ended up uninstalling plex server, the plex folder on my root programs drive. Then from the regular Plex app, I deleted every instance of the old server. That wasn’t easy. Then I was able to install Plex Server and have it catalog everything again. I’m currently in the process of redoing posters, sorting tags, etc. PITA…

I want the old app back. The new app sucks, who did the UI design and how many minutes’ training did s/he have?

That is a lot of work, and I have had to do that twice in the last 12 years when servers went down. It may be the only way, since I noticed that plex on my android app is doing the very same thing as the roku…. But I have 11 Tb of stuff now :frowning:
