Plex keeps skipping episodes

Thank you VERY much for the status update on this. It has been driving my wife and I CRAZY the past few weeks.

If you happen to need logs pulled from another setup experiencing the issue frequently, just let me know. Sounds like the devs are on the right track already though, fingers crossed!

Happy to provide logs as well. This bug is becoming VERY frustrating

Having the same issue, skipping episodes during autoplay on several shows. Let me know if I can provide anything that’ll help debug.

Sometimes, the autoplay freeze, and the next episode doesn’t launch. Maybe another bug linked with playback chromecast ?

I have the name issue with skipping episodes with autoplay on Chromecast using Android phone as remote. Great to see it’s being fixed, hope the update gets dropped soon!

I have been suffering through this for a few weeks too. Any update on an ETA for a fix? It’s less of an issue for me, but it sure as hell is for my wife… So, by extension it is for me I guess.

I’m having this happen too. Skipping every other episode when casting from Android too Chromecast.

Is there any feedback on this from the plex team yet?
Given that the basic playback system is critically broken I thought we may have more regular feedback on a fix.
I know this sounds like a harsh statement but the issue has been replicated.
It would be nice to see occasional updates such as Identified, In progress, Internal testing, in condultation with 3rd party cast units.

I’m just asking that we are kept up to date on the progress as this has completely broken the entire experience of watching a TV series. We need to have hope of resolution.

Despite now having to now sit by my client pc at all times to reverse the skip every episode I am still forgetting and occasionally having to go back and watch missed episodes.

The same thing started to happen to me in the last week. I cast from my windows computer to chromecast. It happens with autoplay , but it also happens if I make a playlist with different shows.

Hope it gets resolved quick.

I commented on this thread multiple times. Sorry I do not have an ETA

Any new updates on this?

We just deployed a new version of the Plex for Chromecast receiver that addresses this issue.

Yay I can now watch House without skipping episodes where Hugh Laurie calls people idiots.

Thanks so much guys for fixing this. It has been a total mare for the last month having to hawkeye every episode transition.

It was at the stage where Igot hungry but had to wait 15 minues before cooking so I could stat clean and not have the episode skip while I had a grill pan in my hand and have to watch the start of the second part of a two parter because I had a hot griddle in my hand at the time.

Sorry about my nagging for an update a fortnight after it was repuduced but after acknowledging that a fundamental part of the system was on the fritz I had then expected to see regular updates as to what stage it was at in development of a fix given the level of interest and other requests for updates.

Really good to see the fix in place though and without a server update needed.

Cheers to all involved.

I just have to say thanks again to all involved.

Though it took a wee while to get it sorted it’s now back on track.

The reason I am repeating myself is that the difference in experience is so massive.

I can live with the extended 20 second, non configurable, wait, increased from 15, between episodes.
I can even live with the fact that I have to reset every 3 episodes (though only just) but this was a mare for a month so good to see it resolved.

Given the desciption of the fix and the workaround mentioned earlier,I am thinking it was a Chromecast change that the Plex API team hadn’t been made aware of

Is there a fix for the same behavior on Amazon Fire sticks? It’s been happening for a few months now.
