Plex Matching TV Shows as the most recently added show (which is not correct)

All my files are on a Drobo 5s. Plex runs on a Win10 box and the storage is USB3 attached. It has worked perfectly for years now, however as of last week, every TV show I add incorrectly matches as the show previously added. The naming convention is correct, no special characters, etc. Its driving me nuts. Has anyone seen this?

Also, I cant “fix incorrect match” on the Show itself as the other files that pertain to that show are correct. It is injecting itself with new shows that are unrelated. Removing the file from the library, updating, cleaning bundles, emptying trash, then adding the file back in does not seem to work either.

Any help appreciated!

Please give an example of your file organisation, especially how your tv series are organised into subfolders.

Are your files in the mp4 / m4v container?
If so, you may need to do this: go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.

Afterwards, perform the Plex Dance with affected series.

So the way I have been doing it (which is lazy I know) is having a “hopper” folder, where media goes initially.

TV Shows library looks for files in X:\TV

The final resting place for the episode is:
X:\TV\Show\episodefolder\file

The hopper folder is X:\TV\unsorted (Which in the past, PLEX has picked up fine before)
However anything added into this folder now is matched as a previously entered show under its actual “s01e11”

Another strange thing is that i created a temp NAS (which we will call Y:) that when i move the files to that folder and add the directory to TV Shows in PLEX. All of a sudden it adds correctly.

This is throwing me for a loop.

I hope it is actually
X:\TV\Show\ season folder\file

Sorry, but if you don’t use Plex like it is intended, then you will get some weird behaviour.
There is really no need for a ‘hopper folder’. Just feed your new media to Filebot and it will rename it automatically and move it into the proper location automatically.
Including creating the required folder structure for tv shows in Plex.
