@trumpy81, thank you so much for your quick reply but unfortunately it didn’t work. I did as you suggested and when that didn’t work I uninstalled Plex and deleted the Plex folder completely, restarted and reinstalled, but wound up with the same result where Plex will install and the website launches but won’t connect.
@trumpy81, Thank you, that seems to have done it along with being prompted to add a firewall exception. My ARM DS216Play is now running Plex again from the downloaded ARM .spk.
Hi, my NAS is a Synology DS115j and I have the same problem. Plex was working fine until the DSM 6.2-23739 Update 2 was installed.
I’m not sure about it but I’m assuming it is 32-bit as when trying to install the 64-bit PMS it says it cannot be installed. However I can neither install the 32 bit version, even though I have uninstalled the previous one… Is there anything I can do apart from waiting next DSM update? Is DS115j so old that it won’t work even with a DSM update?
Thanks in advance
@trumpy81 just after saying about the processor being ARM I checked the downloads pop-up and realized the “ARMv7” text there wasn’t a title but a third download option… -_- UUU
As I weren’t able to access PMS since the DMS upgrade I was so sure this 32 vs 64-bit was the issue I was dealing with that I didn’t even thought my NAS could be using another download…
After installing the correct one I was still unable to access plex via web, but I used the link you provided in a previous post (instead of just clicking the plex shortcut) and was finally able to access. I was again requested to configure a few things but after all it was working and haven’t lost anything on my library.
Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.
Hi. I am having the same issue as described above. I am running a Synology DS1517+. DSM 6.2-23739. PSM -1.13.6.5339-115f087d6-x86_64.spk.
Initially my PSM worked relatively fine despite the new 6.2 DSM environment. Then I upgrade to version PSM PlexMediaServer-1.13.5.5291-6fa5e50a8-x86_64 and it stopped working. I have uninstalled it several times and installed manually the latest package from Synology you see above. Of course I have restarded the DS1517+ plenty of times. And still it does not work.I have also tried to rename the preferences.xml file to old as suggested. Still no luck.
Sometimes I get the initial screen of my server, but when I try to acess my libraries it all get stuck again and does not work. Most of the times it simply cannot find my server.
I am a bit desperate. I do not know what else I could do. I am attaching the Logs of the latest attemp after reinstalling the latest package above mentionedLogs.zip (55.3 KB)
in a Zip file so any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
HI
Thanks for all your hints. I solved it yesterday by uninstalling the 1.13.6 package, erasing the preferences .xml file and installing directly the package wich is offered by the DSM itself (1.13.4). I am now in package 1.13.4.5271!! With a DSM 6.2.23739!! There is something I do not understand. I thought that the DSM was offering a 32Bitt package and could not be installed, but actually it went flawlesly. Am I wrong or am I misunterstanding something?
Justo to reinforce the Plex environment, After Plex was up and running again I followed your hints and created the bond as you suggested in my two LAN interfaces, activated uPNP in my router (I already have opened plex ports in my router). DSM firewall is disabled.
The only thing I cannot find is the option “network interface to listen on” in the Server settings of Plex. This could be due to the fact that I am in Server 1.13.4 and not in 1.13.5.
Actually I do not dare upgrading to 1.13.5 or 1.13.6 (I am a plex Pass user). Those two version were the ones who gave me a tough time when I upgraded.
Any hints why server 1.13.4.5271 is working fine when it should not? Or is it that DSM is now offering a 64bit package instead a 32bit package?
Best regards and thanks for your incredible work here!!
Hi guys,
I am running 1.13.4-5271 on DSM 6.2 Update 2 on a D918+.
Every time I try to manually install the latest PlexMediaServer-1.13.6.5339-115f087d6-x86_64.spk version the package center gives me an error “Operation failed”.
Do anyone know what is wrong?
Regards
Tristan
Thanks for the quick reply!
I uninstalled the package and rebooted the nas.
I still get the same error. Even if I have added the signing key and even allowed packages from all developers.
If you are not afraid of some command line work (typing) , we can get a better peak into what’s happening. It does sound like there is issue with the Synology package manager.
In a worst-case scenario, we backup your configuration, reset/re-install DSM, restore your saved configuration, reload the apps, resume normal life
Perfect explanation. It does help indeed!!
Best regards and again congratulations for all your hard work!!
Warning: 32 bit PMS does not support hardware transcoding.
The DS918+ is capable of 4K HEVC hardware decode which requires the 64 bit version.
Nothing is gained by running a 32 bit app on a 64 bit host. In fact, a large capability of PMS is being lost by doing so.
Warning:
DSM 6.2 Update 2 disables the installation of 32 bit packages on 64 bit hosts
@ChuckPa
Sure, I am fine with command line. But reset will not be an option at this point.
In my case the problem was the port of the router (32400). It was shared by another app (Download Station) and that prevented Plex from running. I opened a new port in the router (32000) an assigned it to Download Station keeping 32400 for Plex and problem solved.
Good luck
Did they change their default port again? grrrrrr
Same problem in my Synology DS918+, updated to the last PMS, and stops working, can’t connect to my server, I’ve tried everything. But still no go… Please help. Thanks

Please manually grab the Logs directory (right click and Compress to Logs.zip ) from within the Plex share and attach it here.
Something else is wrong so let’s see what it’s whining about

When you attempt to start PMS, do you get an error in Package Center or does something else happen?
From what I can see of your logs, PMS has not started since 23 Aug 2018
I did, however, find the problem
Something has damaged PMS badly. Did you have an abrupt shutdown (power failure) ?
-
Uninstall PMS in Package Center completely.
-
Do NOT delete the Plex share or the Plex user. – Leave them as they are
-
Restart the Synology
-
Manual Install PMS again in Package Center.
This will restore the missing parts of PMS which prevent it from starting.
