I am starting to think this DSM patch has an issue. All three of us could not have had a “bad” install at the same time. The bad news is I have already lot all my Plex libraries/Metadata…but I can get 90% back automatically. But the other 10% was custom stuff I had typed in by hand.
I deleted my Plex Folder Myself…so I guess I did not really “Lose” that.
I have two variables here because I updated both the DSM and a Plex patch within a few mins of each other. Did other people just update the Plex Patch and had this issue?
It seems like from the posts that it was the DSM patch that triggered the issue for you other 2 users? Right? Not the Plex Patch?
I can wait a bit…I do not need to force it right away. If a new DSM Patch comes out that corrects this I will just apply it. Same for a Plex Updated it that happens.
I have the same problem. After tonight automatic update to DSM 6.2-23739 Update 2, Plex doesn’t start. I get the same error Mickey is getting, trying with a backup db doesn’t help.
Synology 1817+. Just started the catalog process for Plex this morning (v. 1.12.2…). This evening I saw the updated DSM and installed it. Plex would not boot after, tried reinstalling via package center, no go. Tried the plex update (1.13.4…), won’t load, error is ‘Failed to run the package service’.
Thanks for that updated…sounds like it is not on my local end. So I will not do that Reset process. I will check this thread in the morning to see the updated/progress on the issue.
Thanks for the support…nice to know people are working on it.
Thank you trumpy81 !
(BTW, the .dmp it self is not created hence this cannot be provided)
Just one more thing…Trumpy81…do you think this is anyway to get back my Plex Libraries? DSM seemed to really go out of the way to tell me if I deleted them they would be gone…so I expect they are lost. But I had to ask. Thx again.
Better let him rest for now. He will need all his mental resources once back awake
i guess toast is it. But I think I might start a process to back up that Plex Library somewhere so next time it will be somewhere I can get it back. Is there are document on what parts of the Plex Library should be targeted for backup to keep the Meta data?
I checked the Plex site for backups…but it does not seem to be very specific on types of Metadata and where they are. I really only want to back up the Plex Metadata…not the Media files themselves. I would need a second NAS for that. Nice excuse to get a second one…but I do not have anything to back up that volume of data.
I will set a backup for that directory once I get PLEX back running…Thanks
I tried the commands that you asked Mickey to do. I got a No such file or directory error for the start-stop-status
The error was mine. (3am here. i typo’d )

Super … Thank you. I have the same version running here on a DS1815+ (Atom C2538 CPU) and do not have that error also on DSM 6.2 U 2
I’m going to reach out to engineering for some guidance on next steps.
For now, does public PMS version work?
So you think this might be an issue with 1515+ hardware systems only? Unsure what you mean by “public PMS”.
