Media doesn’t belong anywhere in the PlexMediaServer shared folder.

I previously put warning file which stated to NOT put media there – people ignored them.

I now put more warnings in the PlexMediaServer and PlexMediaServer/AppData shared folder to NOT place media anywhere in there.

You can put media anywhere on the NAS you want, using any name you want.

The PlexMediaServer shared folder is visible for two reasons:

  1. Emergency repairs of PMS Itself
  2. Backup and restore of your metadata.

Now that migration is complete,

  1. All the PMS pointers are still pointing to /volume1/Plex – that works.
  2. I no longer care about or use the Plex share. You can use it as you wish.
