Does the content show in Plex/web ?
If so, go check DSM 7 firewall. They changed things in there too.
If not, then you likely forgot to give PlexMediaServer
permission to read your files.
Thanks. Yes the content does show on Plex / web, I have attached a screenshot and after checking the firewall settings on my NAS - they seem to be correct. I also seem to have enabled the PlexMediaServer permissions in my shared video folder. This is the same folder which I can access via Plex web so unsure what is causing the issue.
Dude, can’t thank you enough for your help on this. I’ve included all the screen shots of what I’m doing. I did go to File Station and check the permissions and PlexMediaServer has Allow / Read & Write Permission to the Plex share under my DS.
So I’m going to list some things that are working…
So it won’t let me upgrade Plex because I supposedly haven’t given every share for Plex access, but I’ve checked it multiple times and Plex has read/write access to all of the shares I use.
Thoughts?
Another thing I noticed - when I go to my Plex share on File Station it doesn’t show me anything in that directory. I might have messed something up.
Double check again –
Not user Plex
System Internal User - PlexMediaServer
( change the “Local Users” dropdown to “System Internal User” )
Please see my screen shots. I didn’t want to include a single picture for each, but did label the specific permissions for each screen shot provided.
show me the error message please
That is NOT an error. There is no RED text.
It’s an informative message to let you know (remind) to set permissions for “PlexMediaServer” if you’re new to DSM 7.
Maybe I should change the message to include “Successful” ?
Now that we’ve established it’s installed correctly and you’ve given permissions,
What’s not working?
Hmmm…the upgrade doesn’t complete after that - or is the upgrade that quick. How do I tell what version of SPK I have loaded?
The way I read that message was the upgrade cannot continue because the permissions aren’t set correctly. If I misunderstood - my apologies.
I am about to add a line to that message so there is no futher confusion (you aren’t the first):
Installation Successful!
Thanks, I’ve just given that a go but seem to have the same issue. I have noticed something odd with the server settings within Plex. When I access Plex via my Synology Package Centre, the remote access settings are all looking correct. However, when I click the Plex.tv/web link it loads a second page where all my content is missing. Could the problem be to do with some server mapping issue that upgrading to DSM 7 has changed? I am still able to play media from my server via the Plex Package Centre app.
Hi and thanks for all those informations and help.
I was on an old PMS version with DSM6 and upgraded to DSM7 a few weeks ago.
I have just tried to upgrade PMS by first uninstalling it. I downloaded PMS 1.24 neon for my 218play but when I try to install it manually I have this message :
This package is not supported on the platform of DiskStation or is incompatible with the current DSM version
Also got this message with the 1.22 neon version. My DSM version is 7.0-41890
Thanks for the help
Right, you need the package for ARMv8 (x18 Series).
Oh thanks, I feel kinda stupid ^^
I thought the right one was the ARMv7 version
ChuckPa - thank you very much. Sorry it took so long to get to the end of this and it didn’t end up being an issue…but it’s awesome that you all are able to make such quick changes to the installation process! I checked and I’m running 1.24.1.4931-7000 so I am good to go!! This is some of the best support I have received and I’m in IT. Again, thanks and if you are in the US have a great Labor Day. If not, then have a great week!
When you’re ready, the next update (PlexPass for now – not public) , is 1.24.2.4973
It will make the final structural changes I wanted in the original package.
If you’re curious, here’s everything I did.
Of biggest benefit – You can use Synology’s or other tools to backup your Plex server again with ease from the GUI
I looked at your post… But where am I supposed to download that version? I didn’t found a link anywhere…
Ok. I got a plexpass to get the version. But I still get in the same problem…
I just subscribed to it… Maybe the system takes some time to show it. I just downloaded version 1.24.2.4973. Still the problem. I will try a re install without the token
