Plex Media Server - Synology DSM 7 Preview - Issues ( Archive )

PlexPass flag in the forum requires you to sign out and back in … that’s all.

When I claim a server, it doesn’t appear in my plex.tv account. When I log in on the local URL of the server, it just tells me : you don’t have access to that server. However, I can see that the token for the claiming connected to my account (authorized clients). So it’s the correct account

Ok… So I basically already did all of that. The only problem is that if I want a reply from the server, I have to connect to : https://NAS_Hostname:32400/

If I put a IPv4 in the place of the hostname (https://192.168.1.2:32400/)I get an 192.168.1.2:32400. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR error in Firefox (same in chrome)

The hostname resolves to a IPv6 only BTW

Okay. I saw the difference. I could get access in private browsing. I’m comming back to you (as it is still loading on the Log In prompt)

Nice. It needed some refresh, but now it’s working.

But yes, it doesn’t work natively in HTTPS to set it up… Neither with hostname or IPv6 from what I saw…

@ardech

Correct on all counts.

They wrote it to make 100% certain you are ‘local’ to it.

That rules out FQDNs. IPv6 support is lagging because of the upstream at Plex.tv

Once the server is claimed, you add your cert to PMS (Cert + Key + CA) and it will then allow HTTPS.

That’s worked for me thanks very much for the support.

I am on Synology 7.0. Plex 1.24.1.4931-7000. Please advise on how to download Packaging 2
Thanks. It seams that my photos are not beeing imported.

@parallax1957

You will need to wait until 1.24.2.4973 (or higher) becomes “Public” or you subscribe to a Plex Pass.

Photos not being imported won’t be changed by the packaging.
More likely, it is likely a permissions problem.

  1. Have you given “System Internal User” PlexMediaServer permission to read the photos?

  2. If you have, check the ACL . (This is a repair tool more than a conversion tool)

  3. Lastly, Go to file station, right-click on the shared folder
    a. Properties
    b. Permissions
    c. Give PlexMediaServer permission to Read or Read/Write as appropriate.
    d. Make certain to check the box “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files”
    e. SAVE

@ChuckPa Hey Chuck! Just wanted to say thank you for all of your help. I received a comment from you on YouTube, but it appears to be gone (not sure if it was deleted by you or YouTube). I unfortunately can’t see anything but the first sentence, but just wanted to let you know (I don’t think I can PM you, so this was the only way I could get to you). Feel free to delete this comment and PM me or comment again as I’d love your input!

@WunderTech

I guess the moderators over there didn’t like me giving a compliment and asking a question. typical.

  1. I had complimented you on finding that installations permission short cut. I wish I had thought of it.

  2. I saw the docker one as well. I made one comment there; specifically that the Syno GUI won’t allow access to the transcoding hardware and was wondering if you’d be willing to take the template I started in this forum and expanded on it and make it a joint effort.

  • Using Docker compose (so it can get to the hardware)?

  • Showing how (using my How-To , linked below), you can overlay the native app with the docker app so folks can switch back to native when the runtime libraries become available

My development system doesn’t have docker in DSM 7 (they removed it) plus my tutorials aren’t always the best :wink:

Maybe a combination of YouTube + Forum ?

Hello all,

That was a lot to read through, hopefully I didn’t miss where my problem has already been answered.

Just upgraded to DSM 7.0-41890. Plex does not want to start automatically after a scheduled reboot, apparently. I’ve temporarily turned off the schedule, and all seems fine; works just peachy. It’s just that as the system reboots, Plex is notated as ‘Manually stopped’ (and I’ve done no such thing).

Any help?

@SteveS801

PMS version please?
NAS model please ?

Sorry, thought I’d typed that.

1.24.1.4931-7000

It’s a DS418Play

@SteveS801

Any chance you’d be willing to upgrade to 1.24.2.4973?

Doing so will put you in the new packaging structure where you can easily grab the logs manually (via FileStation) from the new “PlexMediaServer” shared folder.

Give me just a sec, I’ll do it now

@ChuckPa

First off, thanks for the compliment, but definitely wouldn’t have figured anything out without your instructions, so thank YOU. As for expanding on your tutorial, I am definitely happy to help out and think that using docker compose shouldn’t be too bad for everyone. I am in the process of moving so my time is limited, but I will add this to my list and try and have a tutorial ready for it as soon as I can. I am happy to send you the docker compose script so that you can update your “how to” when I confirm that it works. I can send you the video to review before publishing as well if that would be helpful.

Feel free to PM me if it would be easier to discuss there, as I don’t want to clog up your thread.

Thanks again!

@WunderTech

Thank you!

My thinking on an approach?

Just as I write Scheduled Task ‘scripts’ for folks, would you consider showing them how to take your template, tweak to use their media directories, then map the /var/packages/PlexMediaServer/shares/PlexMediaServer/AppData as /config.

:smiling_imp:

Take a peek in there. We got really lucky.

You’ll find that /var/packages/PlexMediaServer/shares/PlexMediaServer will always be there whenever Plex is installed but will transparently float to wherever the shared folder is located.

Whatever, and whenever, your schedule allows will be great.

Alright, it took a while to complete, but it’s been updated. Next steps?

Steve,

Now open File Station → PlexMediaServer / AppData / Plex Media Server

Right-Click Logs and Compress to Logs.zip. (Must be an administrator)

Download that and attach here.
