Plex Media Server - Synology DSM 7 Preview - Issues ( Archive )

I’ve also noticed that the permissions keep changing to Read/Write for PlexMediaServer after every restart of the server, that’s only for the latest version 1.24.2.4973. I have to enter permissions and change it to Full Control whenever I stop and start the server.

@dusanzk

The permissions for PlexMediaServer shared folder only need be R/W.

DSM has created the folder and maintains the permissions.

Please do not attempt to change them.

Ok, in any case the problem remains.

Just tried same problem for me too

@dusanzk

Which server are we looking at here?

There are 26 servers listed on your account

From interface of my Synoi still see only Plex shared folder and not PlexMediaServer

But i can still see PlexMediaServer folder via ssh under /voluma1/

VD BG, the one without the -, so not VD-BG, just VD BG.

@XDM

You need Synology help now to fix that stuck “Shared Folder”.

I do not have the password to get into their database.

If i remove it via ssh ?

@dusanzk

Plex.tv sees the server

Are all those servers active ?

Have you closed and reopened your browser window?

Aren’t you installing 1.24.2.4973 ?

You cannot go backwards after installing 1.24.2.4973 – you will lose the server ID.

@XDM

If there is no data in it other than my empty structure – Sure

Let me know if there is real * substantial data in it.

I have this in that folder

@xdm

that is /var/packages/PlexMediaServer . I don’t care about that. That’s the PMS software. It’s kept separate from your data.

I AM concerned about your server’s data. /volume1/PlexMediaServer.
Do you have a lot of files there or just my few warning files ?

Not all my servers are active, only 3-4. I don’t know how to permanently delete them from my account. I haven’t tried closing the browser itself but have tried opening a new tab and accessing the site from there, If you believe it will make a difference I can try that. I did install 1.24.2.4973 but after that failed I uninstalled that and went back to 1.24.1.4931 because that version works for me. I’m sure it’s more serious then I can currently see but what is the problem with me losing the server ID ? I mean, at 1.24.1.4931 the server works for me, I have all my metadata and the server isn’t showing as offline.

How can i check that ?
On screenshot i do an ls -la of /volume1/PlexMediaServer

@dusanzk

You can delete the dead ones —

Settings - Authorized Devices - Server (dropdown)

Find the unused server – REMOVE

I only have 5 servers here, one of which is the new one recently created due to the update. I will delete that one but the other ones I have are active, I don’t see 26 servers there.

@dusanzk

Please check your PM. I sent you some information.
