Plex Media Server - Synology DSM 7 Preview - Issues ( Archive )

Hi,

I experienced other bug on DSM 7 RC. Particularly for photos shared folder permissions are not applied correctly. I have PMS user with read/wrirte access set but still Plex has no access to the desired folder. Other shared folders/.librairies work fine. For test I created different photo shared folder and copy photos across and all worked fine. I believe this is bug rather in DS 7 then in Plex.

@trumpy81 This is something new for me as I used default photo folder on DSM 6 and it worked with plex.

Also is it possible to use one photo shared folder for both Synology photos and Plex library e.g. newly created shared folder?

the same

Where to find this version please?

It’s the one Synology has in its ā€œstoreā€.

same problem for me too. cant install on DSM 7 RC the ne beta. Invalid file format. please fix it.

But did you check the following link?

Synology - DSM 7 build 41882 - Breaking Changes - #25 by ChuckPa - NAS & Devices - Plex Forum

Because there is a 41882 build which hasn’t got the invalid file format issue. That worked perfect on my DSM 7, the PlexMediaServer-1.23.2.4625-a83d2d0f9-x86_64_DSM7 gave me the same invalid format error.

To @Peeta83 and ALL : Please read the forum and the pinned messages !!
I’m ā€œwatchingā€ this topic, meaning that I receive a mail for each message, just to check the great work of @ChuckPa ; But I’m tired of reading the same message again and again…

Yes, there is a problem with DSM 7, and if you took just 2 minutes to check the pinned messages, you could have an answer without even posting a message…

Unfortunately I updated to DSM 7.0-41882 (the RC). Plex is running 1.23.2.4625. Now I saw these updates packages by ChuckPa, but they are 1.23.2.4600, but my plex is already running a newer version so I can’t try those.

Are there any solutions for those who made the mistake to update to the DSM RC? My plex media is not available from remote.

Please see the banner I posted Globally for the forum.

I can’t get the stupid sever to work, it keeps saying: You do not have access to this server no soup for you…and it’s pissing me off now what?

@RBH4908

You’ll get that error if the server’s credentials are messed up or not matching your user credentials.

The easiest way to get it back is built into the package itself (the installation)

  1. Sign out of Plex/web browser session.
  2. Uninstall the package and KEEP the server instance (IMPORTANT)
  3. Reinstall the package —
  4. Using the Plex Claim Token method button.
  5. Click ā€œGet Tokenā€
  6. Copy the token (which is from your plex.tv master account)
  7. Paste it into the window there.
  8. Complete normal software re-installation (default GUI options).
  9. when Package Center is done, open the server (http:://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web)
  10. Click ā€œGot Itā€
  11. See the setup wizard wanting to confirm everything – SKIP through that
  12. FINISH and get to the dashboard.

There is no claim server option

Is it reasonable to spend the effort to get PMS up and running if you’re already on DSM 7.0, build 41882, or should we just wait for a proper fix? I imagine the more time Chuck spends replying to posts, troubleshooting, the less time he’s spending on actually fixing the issue.

By the way, thanks a lot, Chuck. You’re awesome. Keep up the good work.

Installation Type

@Akilou

The short form:

  1. We have halted package development until Synology has a stable platform for us to evaluate.

  2. Go ahead and set it up. Enjoy while you can

Don’t have that option. Just dumping using it for now I guess

@RBH4908

show me what you’re seeing?

I think you’re getting ā€œUpgradeā€.

The menu options are hard coded . It is always present for ā€œInstallā€

well now I’m not sure if this is a DSM 7-related issue or not. Plex works fine in a browser when I use http://192.168.86.24:32400/web/index.html#!/ but when I go to app.plex.tv, I get an error message that Plex is ā€œunable to connect securelyā€. Similar message when trying to use the Android app.

I’m running DSM 7.0-41882 and Plex 1.23.2.4600-7000

Under the Remote Access section of Settings, I followed instructions for port forwarding and verified through canyouseeme.org that it works. I first get a ā€œfully accessible outside of your networkā€ message, which turns into a " Not available outside your network" message after a few minutes.
