Just did it. before lauching, shall I prefer internal storage ? Or shall I tell Plex where to install the logs ?
- one volume
- Volume 1
- how do i get the output, do I need to install a package or windows cmd?
System Error 0 (zero) – You forgot to check “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files” or didn’t check all the right permissions blocks when you were granting Administrative Full Control to PlexMediaServer.
Verify you still have your metadata in the Plex share.
Uninstall & Erase the DSM 7 package (it clears the DSM 7 area only)
Now begin again and fix what was accidentally missed.
It’s VERY detail rich
Highlight the text
I think putty auto-copies what’s highlighted? or is that WIndows?
Just copy/paste the text here in the reply. shouldn’t be much.
Sorry I mean I dont know how to do the shell input, where do I enter the two commands?
Edit - think i got it to work. They both returned the following:
admin@BKServer:/$ echo /volume1/[Pp]lex*
/volume1/PlexMediaServer /volume1/plex /volume1/plexlogs
admin@BKServer:/$ echo /volume1/@apphome/PlexMediaServer
/volume1/@apphome/PlexMediaServer
SO they are lowercase “p” do I just need to change in the folder name to make it Capital P?
Chuck ?
Now we fix the authentication.
- Uninstall the package and KEEP
- Install the package again – Plex Claim Token
- Paste the token from Plex.tv it gives you
- When it returns,
a. Sign out of the browser
b. Restart Plex
c. Open the Syno again and sign in.
Keep you posted.
Don’t worry about the lower-case plex. My new package (NOT the plex.tv one), takes care of that
If you look in the “Plex” shared folder, it should be empty. There should be no “Plex Media Server” folder.
If you look in PlexMediaServer/AppData, you should see “Plex Media Server”.
Please confirm this.
So.
I have uninstall Plex with the KEEP options.
I have signed out the Plex web account
I have installed Plex again with the claim token
When you say :
Restart Plex - you want me to launch it on web or syno ?
open the syno - Means I have to restart the device ?
For what its worth, I don’t see my sino has on the authorized devices on plex web
I see Plex Media Server in both the old and new locations
sino nas
Give me a few… I am tracking an emergency… BRB
Thanks for the quick reply. Before my post I did confirm the new PlexMediaServer account permissions were applied to folder, sub folder, and files for both directories, and also checked all boxes in the custom permissions settings. I confirmed metadata exists in Plex share. I went ahead and removed and re-added permissions ensuring all settings were correct per your recommendation but got the same error.
While waiting for your reply, I found another thread where you listed a chown script to apply PlexMediaServer ownership for a separate issue. I modified the script and applied that to my library and plex share and the migration worked. Not sure why my permissions were not working from the GUI but I got it to migrate. Thanks for your help!
I just noticed that in the original plex location, I am not able to see the “custom” checkbox when setting permissions (only read or read/write). But in the new folder I do see custom. Could this be causing the issue?
Do I need to convert it to Windows ACL to enable custom checkbox?
It seems to work !!! Scanning my files again, but clearly, its finding all my tv shows. By the way, does it scan one folder and after the other ?
Anhyways, thanks for the patience and your time, @ChuckPa
Because right now, my movies dont appear… Says its empty…
