Since updating to the latest server version, it seems the Plex Music agent has stopped respecting the “Prefer local metadata” option for track artists.
In this album, I have all of the track artists set to Tomita Lab, with no featuring artists included, as I don’t like separate artist entries being scrobbled to my Last.fm. The Plex scanner has changed all track artists to what I assume is from Musicbrainz, which is the Japanese name for Tomita Lab, with the featuring artists included.
Thanks! I had tried seeing if anyone had the same issue but couldn’t find any threads. After making my first post I went through my Last.fm scrobbles and saw the issue started occurring sometime in early June for me. I haven’t been listening to a lot of albums with featuring artists lately, so I hadn’t noticed until now.
I wonder if maybe it’s only happening when the full album is there? Is the album still “Matched” even with only one song there? Are you able to manually match it if not?
I just refreshed metadata on mine now, and still have the incorrect artist tags, even though “Prefer local metadata” is checked:
Unmatching an album will change the guid for the album and tracks so you would lose the play history for those items. I can’t think of anything else that would change.
It seems that’s what the users in the other thread are experiencing–metadata comes back after unmatching. Nice to know as a temporary workaround, but would love to see local metadata restored even with matching, as I do appreciate the matching filling in other info/tags on albums for fields my local tags don’t specify.
