Plex no longer sees my server (even though nothing is wrong with my server)

Thank you for all your help. I need to go to sleep now. I am hoping you are around tomorrow. I am in Arizona time. Bill

I am at my computer. Will you be able to help me?

This same thing happened to me. I did an update on my Qnap TS-451 NAS, and suddenly all my apps stopped seeing the media server. Can’t access on the TV, can’t access on my phone, or in the web app. They all just say my server is unavailable. I changed no settings, and I’ve been spinning my wheels trying to figure this out, and nothing on any of the support artcles have helped me. I’ve installed the latest Plex Media Server qpkg, I’ve restarted my server twice, I’ve stopped and started the plex application on my NAS a few times. Nothing works. I was able to see my library for about 10 seconds after I stopped and started the application the first time, but then it just disappeared again and I haven’t been able to get it back. There’s nothing wrong with my server. I have the drive mapped and I can see all my movies and music, and I can play them with a media player on my computer. Can anybody help?

May I help?

When you attempt to open Plex by opening the QNAP via it’s IP address (http://ip.addr.of.qnap:32400/web), does the Plex/web client load or do you get a complete failure to load anything?

Complete failure. I get a message ā€œThis site can’t be reachedā€ ā€œERR_CONNECTION_REFUSEDā€

Suddenly, I can see my library again. I haven’t been able to see my library in days, and now when I come on here to ask for help, it randomly connects. It’s up and running now. So…I’m good now. I appreciate the prompt response.

The database was upgraded.

One thing observed, which wasn’t overly emphasized in the release notes, is how long it takes from when PMS is upgraded until the Database upgrade is completed.

It would be really nice if PMS had a display page ā€œPMS is performing internal maintenance, please stand byā€.

Ah, OK. Thanks so much!!! :slight_smile:

I should be so lucky. I still cannot see my library. It now sees my Qnap but no library. I started to rebuild but I really need to find another app like Plex that either has support so if something happens I can get my data back. The hardest thing about this is that I lost the many hours of time put in to building playlists.

@bill_myoaktree_com

Would you please do the following

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Create a shared folder named PlexData (exact capitalization) anywhere you want
  3. Start PMS , Let it run 1 minutes, then Stop PMS one more time.
  4. Open FileStation → PlexData/Plex Media Server
  5. Right-click ā€œLogsā€ → Compress (to make the ZIP file)
  6. When it’s complete, download it
  7. Attach the ZIP file here so I may review what’s happening

I will. Don’t be confused by the same server ā€œQnap3ā€ showing twice. The one that does not connect is where all my original playlists are. That is the one i need. The other ā€œQnap3ā€ just started to show up 2 days ago. I started to load that but only made a few playlists. I don’t want to invest the time. Plex shows different things depending on ho and where I open it from. I will pick one and do what you suggest.

@bill_myoaktree_com

I will look at what Plex.tv knows of your server(s).

We’ll find where things are on your machine and get PMS reconnected to that data if it’s still there. (It should be unless deleted)

Did you, at any point, use the QNAP ā€œMigrate toā€ function or did you have App Center ā€œRemoveā€ (uninstall) PMS ?

Where are logs?

You did not name it as I asked.

PlexData please.

(The start / stop control scripts are sensitive to that naming)

It appears, using the structure you have

Library/Plex Media Server

Under Plex Media Server is where you’ll find Logs

I removed it in the app center then reinstalled.

I believe the database and playlists are on my desktop in appdata local. I have 2 backups from 01/07/22. Can I restore those?

com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db-2022-01-07

I found these in appdata - local - Plex Media Server on my c drive on my desktop I would be happy if i could restore back to the 7th of January.
These might be it, no?

May I see the log files please?

There is no ā€œappdataā€ on QNAP. Are you referring to Windows?

I sometimes used Plex through the internet and not through the app in Qnap. The data still pointed to the Qnap but the Plex info is probably in appdata local

@bill_myoaktree_com

Where is your Plex server running on? Windows or QNAP ?

I am not referring to your media ; that’s probably on the QNAP
