Plex not finding one single movie

Hi there, i’m new with forums etc, i’m just here because plex doesn’t offer real support. Please excuse my english, i’m not a native english speaker, my mother tongue is german.

I’m using Plex on a Synology 1821+ with Version 7.1.1-42962.

I have a very strange problem where Plex doesn’t find a movie. One single movie. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971). Any other movie works just fine. When I add it, Plex just ignores it and doesn’t find it. It’s not added to my library. Here’s what I already tried:

  • added the m2ts version from the 4K Blu-ray.
  • deleted the file and reuploaded it - no success.
  • converted it into the MP4 Format - no success.
  • uploaded the 1080p version from the Blu-ray (mkv format) - no success.
  • compressted the file with Handbrake - no success.
  • created a folder where I just put in the movie - no success.
  • renamed it to it’s original german title - no success
  • renamed the file to a completley different movie to see what happens - nothing happens.
  • tested the movie on several devices to see if the file had any problems. No problems.
  • Updated Plex - no success

Before and after uploading this movie, I added some other mkv and m2ts Movies from 4K and 1080p Blu-rays. For example Jumanji, The Goonies and E.T. in 4K (m2ts). Everything fine. Same for some 1080p Movies. (Emil of Lönneberga, Dragon Girls, Charade).
I’m confused as any other movies, mkv and m2ts, are fine. In the past few months, I added over 1500 movies to plex - it’s the first time I can’t solve the problem by myself.

Have you checked your library for Duplicates (library filter; items with multiple files associated to them)? Otherwise the server logs should show some more details on where it placed the file or why it’s been skipped.

See if it’s been merged with the newer version. This is particularly likely if the release date was only added retroactively to the filename.
You’d then have to perform the Plex Dance.

Thanks for all the help. Renaming the file was the solution, although plex needed several hours to realize it. I renamed the file to “Convoy”. After i went for a walk and came back, “Convoy” was first in line. I renamed it to the actual film and now it’s in my library. I have no idea what was the matter, but as it worked, i’m happy.

By the way, yes, I checked the duplicates, but I didn’t upload the film before, it’s the only Wonka-Movie I own. So there was no duplicate anywhere.
